    • A frame assembly is disposed within an opening of a structure. The frame assembly includes first and second frame members each defining an interior and having a plurality of walls extending between a first end and a second end. The frame assembly includes a cornerlock extending into each of the first and second frame members. The cornerlock includes first and second body members each having hinge and distal ends and are rotatably coupled together at the hinge ends. The first body member has at least one arm deflectable to bias against and engage the first frame member. Each of the first and second frame members has a mitered end. The first and second frame members abut at the mitered ends in an angular configuration. The cornerlock rotates to correspond with the angular configuration and is entirely disposed within a combination of the interiors of the first and second frame members.

    • The present invention relates to a prefabricated structure for a composite window/door apparatus using different frame materials. In the present invention, one of the corner pieces is inserted into the corner piece paths of the adjacent first window frames, to connect the corners of the first window frames together. Another corner piece is inserted into the corner piece paths of the adjacent first sash frames, to connect the corners of the first sash frames together. One of the angle pieces is inserted into the angle piece paths of the adjacent first window frames, to reinforce the connection of the corners of the first window frames. Another angle piece is inserted into the angle piece paths of the adjacent first sash frame, to reinforce the connection of the corners of the first sash frames. The window frame compression flanges protrude between the corner piece path and the angle piece path of the first window frame, and the sash compression flanges protrude between the corner piece path and the angle piece path of the first sash frame.Accordingly, when the sides of the corners of the adjacent first window frames made of synthetic resin and the sides of the corners of the adjacent first sash frame made of synthetic resin are punched, the punched parts of the first window frames, the punched parts of the first sash frames made of synthetic resin and the parts of the angle pieces are deformed/cut and bent inwardly. When the punched parts of the angle piece are bent into the corner piece so as to be engaged together, the window frame compression flanges of the first window frames are pressurized by the angle piece and the corner piece, and the sash frame compression flanges of the first sash frames are pressurized by the angle piece and the corner piece, so that the corners of the first window frames are connected to the angle piece and the corner piece and the corners the first sash frames are connected to the angle piece and the corner piece.Therefore, the adjacent first window frames made of synthetic resin are simply and firmly connected with each other only by a punching step, without using any heat-sealing method or adhesive agent application. The adjacent first sash frame made of synthetic resin are connected with each other in the same manner. As a result, the end product assembly is highly improved and the appearance beauty of the window frame using different materials and the sash frame using different materials does not deteriorate.

    • Methods of joining members, forming molded portions with members, securing inserts with members, and joined members, such as for a frame or a frame for a fenestration unit, formed thereby, are disclosed. One embodiment of the method includes placing a first member with a first cavity in a joining position, placing a second member proximate the first cavity of the first member in the joining position, injecting a resin into the first cavity, allowing the resin to solidify at least partially to join the first member and second member to form a joined member, and removing the joined member from the joining position. Optionally, the joined member can be formed in a fixture, can include molded portions formed by the resin, and/or can include inserts held in place by the resin. Further, members without cavities can form a cavity that can receive the resin.

    • A window casing system includes a kit to completely finish the insides of windows in homes and offices. An installer provides key measurements of the window opening height, width, and depth, to the factory. Custom pre-finished jambs, casings, sills, and aprons are then packaged and delivered in a kit to the jobsite for installation. Plastic fasteners with ribbed shanks are included in the kit for the installer to press into holes and dados in the jambs, casings, and sill to permanently join them together. The top corner miters of the side and top casings are joined with unique, ribbed plastic corner elbows for tight, perfectly aligned joints. The whole is then either nailed, glued, or otherwise fastened into the window opening.

    • A frame corner joint includes first and second frame rails having hollow interiors of predetermined contours and ends in mitered abutment. A corner key has legs inserted into the mitered ends of the frame rails. End portions of the legs substantially fill the hollow interiors of the frame rails forming a substantially closed cavity within the frame rails and between the end portions of the corner key legs. Solidified resin foam is disposed within this cavity rigidifying the corner joint, while the remainder of the interiors of the frame rails preferably is substantially free of solidified foam. At least one end portion of at least one leg of the corner key preferably has a flexible wall portion to permit escape of foam from within the cavity in the event of excess foam pressure. The hollow interiors of the frame rails preferably are mirror images of each other, and the legs of the corner key, including the end portions of the legs, preferably are mirror images of each other.
