摘要： An injection molded product is disclosed and includes a shingle resembling a cedar shingle tile formed from an amorphous or semi-crystalline thermoplastic and having a wood grain direction. The injection molded product also includes streaks in the shingle that are substantially parallel to the wood grain direction and the streaks extend through an interior of the shingle and appear as contrasting streaks on an exterior of the shingle to form a variegated wood grain appearance. The injection molded product further includes an injection molded vestige in the shingle. The injection molded vestige is located adjacent to a perimeter of the shingle and the injection molded vestige comprises a location at which material entered an injection mold through a gate.

摘要： When a plurality of striped molded products are molded at a time, the molded products having a striped pattern and an outstanding design property are obtained by preventing part of molten resins from being unevenly distributed in an inappropriate manner when being fed into a cavity of a metal mold. A hot runner nozzle is provided with a first resin flow path and a plurality of second resin flow paths. The first flow path has a funnel section which continues with a nozzle gate at a centripetal position and which allows a first molten resin to be gathered at the centripetal position of the funnel section so as to feed the resin into the nozzle gate. The second resin flow paths have a plurality of corresponding discharge ports facing and communicating with the funnel section of the first resin flow path, each of the discharge ports being disposed around the centripetal position, so that the second molten resin different from the first molten resin is fed into the funnel section.

摘要： Single or multiple colorants are infused into a thermoplastic material during melt processing to form preforms and plastic containers exhibiting a marbleized or swirl-type pattern. A base resin and colorant may be fed into an extruder having an extrusion screw and/or barrel modified in a manner to cause incomplete and non-uniform mixing. The modifications may include notches in some of the flights along the extrusion screw, a reduction in the depth or omission of some of the flights, a reduction in diameter of the extrusion screw, or the provision of a marbleizing torpedo near the discharge nozzle. Other techniques include introducing the colorant into vents present along the barrel, using a barrier screw to keep the components separate along the length of the barrel, using a high pressure pump for introducing the colorant near the discharge nozzle, or using multi-material co-injection techniques for co-injecting the base resin and colorant.

摘要： A method of injection molding a building product includes providing an injection mold with a plurality of gates located adjacent a perimeter of the injection mold. The method further includes commingling a first material and a second material into a flow, the second material comprising a color that contrasts with a color of the first material and injecting the commingled flow into the plurality of gates to form a building product. Thereafter, the method includes removing the building product from the injection mold. The second material extends through an interior of the building product and appears as contrasting streaks on an exterior of the building product to form a variegated grain appearance. The method also includes notching a portion of the building product, such that the building product has a substantially linear grain in an exposed portion thereof.
