摘要： A method and apparatus is provided for use in spinal fusion procedures. An interbody fusion device has a first piece that is a load bearing device designed to bear the axial loading from the end plates of adjacent vertebrae. A second piece of the interbody fusion device is a retention device whose function is to prevent migration of the load bearing device. One or more fasteners secure the retention device to the vertebrae above and below the load bearing device. The fasteners cause the end plates of the vertebrae to compress the end plates to the load bearing device to facilitate proper fusion. The second piece can be configured to include lips that abut the apothyseal rings during, with the plate including bores angled such that fasteners penetrate the apothyseal rings.

The texture can include a plurality of nanofeatures applied thereto such that the texture has a first particle size at a first location, a second particle size at a second location, and a gradient of particle size from the first particle size to the second particle size between the first location and the second location.

The kit includes a plurality of stems having a bore therein and a plurality of necks having a tapered distal end adapted to taper lock in the bore of one of the necks. The spacer assembly includes a spacer having opposite ends and a side wall extending between the opposite ends and at least one end cap coupled to at least one of the opposite ends of the spacer. Each end cap includes an inner end facing the spacer, an outer end having a serrated surface, and a side wall extending between the inner and outer ends. The side wall of each end cap is formed for engagement with the side wall of the spacer to provide a mechanical connection between the end cap and the spacer.

摘要： A mobile bearing knee prosthesis in which the tibial component includes an upstanding post and a cap provided at an upper end thereof. The cap includes a lip extending laterally outward from the post to give the cap a generally oval shape with a major axis in the A/P direction and a minor axis in the M/L direction. The meniscal insert includes an undercut cavity elongated in the A/P direction in which the post is received. The undercut cavity has a length allowing substantial movement of the post therealong in the A/P direction, and a width allowing only a minor movement of the post in the M/L direction. The insert also includes an upper cutout extending around an upper portion of the cavity which receives therein an adjacent portion of the lip. With this construction, the insert and the baseplate are free to slide relative to one another along a plane of contact therebetween, except when constrained by (i) a contact of the post with the undercut cavity as movement occurs in the A/P and M/L directions, whereby substantial relative movement of the insert and baseplate in the A/P direction is allowed and only a minor relative movement in the M/L direction is allowed, and (ii) an engagement of the lip located between the minor axis and the major axis with the upper cutout as rotation occurs about an axis perpendicular to the plane of contact, whereby only some predetermined rotational relative movement is allowed.
