摘要： A shoulder implant assembly including a humeral stem, a head, a cup, and a taper adaptor. The humeral stem is configured to be inserted into a humerus bone. The head includes a metal substrate having a coupling taper and a polymeric cover mounted to the metal substrate having a convex outer surface and a generally planar base. The cup has a concave surface configured to articulate with the polymeric cover of the head. The taper adaptor is configured to mate with the coupling taper of the head. The taper adaptor is configured to connect the head to the stem when the cup is connected to a glenoid. The taper adaptor is configured to connect the head to the glenoid when the cup is connected to the humeral stem.

摘要： A method for performing an arthroplasty on at least one of a glenoid or a humerus of a glenohumeral joint. The method includes the following: forming an entry incision in soft tissue superior and lateral to the glenohumeral joint; forming a passage from the entry incision to the glenohumeral joint; inserting a cutting instrument through the passage and cutting a humeral head of the humerus to prepare the humerus to receive an implant including a stem; inserting the implant through the passage; and securing the implant relative to the humerus with the implant oriented such that the stem extends substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the humerus.

摘要： Prosthetic hip stems for use in prosthetic hip joints and, in particular, provides prosthetic hip stems that are designed to achieve more optimized outcomes with certain types of patient anatomy, such as the anatomy of female patients and/or patients having osteoporosis. Each hip stem in a family or set of hip stems has diaphyseal width, metaphyseal width, offset, and head height dimensions. In a set of hip stems of increasing nominal size, the diaphyseal width dimension increases substantially non-proportionally to the corresponding increase of the metaphyseal width, offset, and head height dimensions, thereby providing a family or set of hip stems that is particularly adapted for patients having osteoporosis, in which the cortical bone of the diaphysis of the femur becomes thinner with progression of the osteoporosis.

The joint component includes a body having a first articulating surface and a second medial surface opposite the first articulating surface. The first articulating surface is adapted to be engaged by the socket and the second medial surface is adapted to be secured to mounting portion. The mounting portion has a first surface and a second medial surface. The first surface is adapted to be fixably engaged to the second mounting portion of the humeral component. The second medial surface is adapted to be secured to the humerus. A peg which has a first end adapted to engage a cavity found in the humerus is disposed on the mounting portion's second medial surface.

The flange component is coupled to the first connecting portion and configured to attach to a healthy pelvic portion on a same side of the median plane from the first pelvic portion. The pubis component is connected to the second connecting portion of the acetabular component and having a clamping portion configured to attach to a healthy pubis bone on an opposite side of the median plane from the first pelvic portion.
