    • A delivery device for intraluminally positioning and controllably releasing a vascular prosthesis includes an elongate delivery sheath and a control handle at the proximal end of the device. The handle has components movable and arranged to define at least three relative positions including (1) an implant capture position in which the sheath fully encloses and contains the implant, (2) an intermediate position in which the implant is partially deployed but in which the trailing end of the implant remains attached to the delivery device, and (3) a release position in which the implant has been freed from the delivery device and fully released within the blood vessel. The movable parts of the handle include a shifting mechanism that must be operated deliberately through a detent by the physician to enable the handle to be manipulated from one position to the other.

    • A delivery apparatus for a self-expanding stent is disclosed. The apparatus has an outer sheath forming an elongated tubular member having distal and proximal ends and an inside and outside diameter. The apparatus also includes an inner shaft located coaxially within the outer sheath. The inner shaft has a distal end, a proximal end and longitudinal axis extending therebetween. At least a portion of the inner shaft is made from a flexible coiled member. The shaft preferably includes a stop attached thereto, the stop being proximal to the distal end of the sheath. Lastly, the apparatus includes a self-expanding stent located within the outer sheath, wherein the stent makes frictional contact with the outer sheath and the shaft is disposed coaxially within a lumen of the stent. During deployment of the stent, the stent makes contact with the stop.

    • A stent-graft fabricated from a thin-walled, high strength material provides for a more durable and lower profile endoprosthesis. The stent-graft comprises one or more stent segments covered with a fabric formed by the weaving, knitting or braiding of a biocompatible, high tensile strength, abrasion resistant, highly durable yarn such as ultra high molecular weight polyethylene. The one or more stent segments may be balloon expandable or self-expanding. The fabric may be attached to the stent segments utilizing any number of known materials and techniques. The fabric may be attached to the stent segments utilizing an attachment device that secures the fabric to a strut of the stent segment by sandwiching the fabric between itself and the stent strut.
