摘要： An optical compensatory sheet producing apparatus produces an optical compensatory sheet having a liquid crystal layer. In the apparatus, a rubbing unit is supplied with resin film having a first layer including resin, and subjects the first layer to a rubbing process, so as to form an orientation layer. A dust remover removes dust from the orientation layer by use of liquid such as perfluorocarbon, to which the orientation layer is insoluble. A liquid crystal layer coater is disposed downstream from the dust remover, for coating the orientation layer with coating liquid including liquid crystalline compound, so that the liquid crystal layer is formed.

摘要： A coating apparatus for forming a curtain film of uniform thickness on a suitable substrate, particularly for production of recording/reproducing media such as photosensitive and magnetic media. Jets of an auxiliary liquid are provided in the vicinity of a lip portion of a liquid pouring device which pours the coating film on the substrate. The jets expel an auxiliary liquid which does not affect the characteristics of the coating film, but which does prevent thinning of the curtain film in the vicinity of edge guides of the apparatus. Depending on the height of the curtain film, more than one set of jets may be provided along the length of the curtain film.

摘要： A coating device for coating a coating solution on a web has a roller and a weir which partially constructs a solution store space. In the solution store space the coating solution is stored. When the web sequentially moves in a direction, the roller rotates and the solution in the solution store space is supplied on the web. Thereby a part of the solution overflows the weir such that another part of the solution may remain on the web to have a constant width in a widthwise direction of the web. A drying device has plural drying zones in which the web is fed after the coating of the coating solution. One of the drying zones is neighbored to the coating device. A top of the plural drying zones is constructed of a blow regulation member so as to confront to the solution on the web. The blow regulation member has holes through which is exhausted a gas evaporated from the layer of the solution on the web.

摘要： A device for simultaneous multilayer application in which discrete liquid substances are applied as at least two mutually-overlaid layers to a continuously moving web comprises a web, a backup roller around which the web moves and a hopper for simultaneously applying upper and lower layers to the web. The hopper includes first and second guide surfaces along which the liquid substances flow onto the web, and first and second slots for individually supplying the liquid substances to each of the guide surfaces. The slots are designed such that the length of the slot for supplying the lower layer is longer than the length of slot for supplying the upper layer and the width of the slot for supplying the lower layer is smaller than the width of the slot for supplying the upper layer. In this manner, the edges of the applied liquid substances are continuous along the length of the web and streaks are prevented from forming along the applied surfaces.
