摘要： The invention relates to catalytically bleaching substrates, especially laundry fabrics, with atmospheric oxygen and a peroxyl species. A method of bleaching a substrate is provided that comprises applying to the substrate, in an aqueous medium, a specified organic substance which forms a complex with a transition metal, the complex catalysing bleaching of the substrate by atmospheric oxygen and a peroxyl species. Also provided is a bleaching composition comprising, in an aqueous medium, atmospheric oxygen and an organic substance which forms a complex with a transition metal, the complex catalysing bleaching of the substrate by the atmospheric oxygen, wherein the aqueous medium is provided with a peroxygen bleach or a peroxy-based or peroxy-generating bleach system.

摘要： Novel bleach and oxidation catalysts, a method of bleaching substrates using these catalysts and bleaching (detergent) compositions containing the catalysts are reported.The catalysts are a manganese-based co-ordination complex of the general formula:[L.sub.n Mn.sub.m X.sub.p ].sup.z Y.sub.qwherein Mn is manganese in the IV-oxidation state; n and m are independent integers from 2-8; X represents a co-ordination or bridging species; p is an integer from 0-32; Y is a counter-ion, the type of which is dependent on the charge z of the complex which can be positive, zero or negative; q=z/[charge Y]; and L is a ligand which is an organic molecule containing a number of hetero-atoms selected from N, P, O, and S, which co-ordinates via all or some of its hetero-atoms and/or carbon atoms to the Mn.sup.(IV) -center(s), which latter are anti-ferromagnetically coupled.

摘要： The invention relates to the use of a certain class of lipases together with strong bleaching agents in detergent compositions. This class of lipases consists of fungal lipases ex Humicola lanuginosa or Thermomyces lanuginosus, and bacterial lipases which show a positive immunological cross-reaction with the antibody of the lipase produced by Chromobacter viscosum var. lipolyticum NRRL B-3673. The strong bleaching agents are stronger than the sodium perborate/TAED system, i.e. stronger than peracetic acid or they yield, on perhydrolysis, a peracid faster than the sodium perborate/TAED system.

摘要： An enzymatic detergent and bleaching composition contains a bleaching system which is stronger than the sodium perborate/TAED system. In such a composition a lipase is employed which is produced by cloning, by rDNA technique, the gene which encodes the lipase produced by the fungas Humicola lanuginosa and expressing that gene in Aspergillus oryzae as host. The lipase is used in an amount giving a lipolytic enzyme activity of from 100 to 0.005 lipolytic units/mg of the composition.
