    • A metal closure is described, in the form of a foil lid (1) bonded to a metal annular component (such as a container body or separate intermediate ring). The foil lid (1) and annular component are made of dissimilar metals, with the closure adapted to prevent bimetallic corrosion at the interface between the dissimilar metals of the foil lid and the annular component. The closure is adapted such that the lid comprises a peripheral wall which is upstanding from the annular component such that a gap is maintained between the annular component and an exposed metal peripheral edge of the lid. Further aspects of the invention include: i. a method for making such a metal closure; and ii. an apparatus for making such a metal closure.

    • A telecommunications system includes a first (home) mobile telecommunications network A5 second (roamed) mobile telecommunications network B and a third (virtual) mobile telecommunications network C. The virtual network C does not have its own radio access network but uses the radio access network of network B in accordance with a commercial contract between networks B and C. Network C is a MVNO. When a mobile telecommunications device that has network A as its home network roams to network B, the mobile telecommunications device initially registers with network B as the roamed network. Conventionally, communications between network A and network B would be transmitted via a fixed communication link (25) (such as a leased line). However, in the embodiment described, the network A transmits a command to the mobile telecommunications device, instructing that device to de-register from network B and to re-register with virtual network C. The home network A and the virtual network C include IP routing servers (29,29C) which enable voice over IP calls to be routed between the home network A and the virtual network C via the Internet (31). The calls can subsequently be routed from the virtual network C to the mobile device via the radio access network on network B. In this way, use of the fixed communication link (25) between network A and network B is reduced, thereby potentially reducing the cost of making and receiving calls while roaming.

    • A reel unit for supply and take-up of film from at least one motion picture projector includes an upright support column and a plurality of film platter-support arms that extend generally horizontally from the column at vertically spaced positions. The arms are alternately offset laterally from one another to facilitate access to film on platters below the top arm. Each arm carries a platter drive hub provided with upwardly projecting drive pins that engage in openings in the platter so that the platter can be lifted off the arm. This allows the platters to be interchanged between different arms. Film take-up and pay-out cores can be interchangeably mounted on the platters so that any one platter can serve as a supply platter or a take-up platter irrespective of its position on the column. For the same reason, the column carries, in association with each arm, a set of rollers for guiding film being paid out from a platter on that arm or being wound onto the platter.
