    • An electrically controlled fuel injection apparatus is proposed which serves to control an internal combustion engine. The electrically controlled fuel injection apparatus comprises at least one injection valve which is opened via an electronic control apparatus in accordance with operational characteristics of the engine, at least one temperature-sensitive element which is in communication with the electronic control apparatus for the purpose of influencing the fuel injection quantity and one supplementary air valve disposed within a lateral channel which bypasses the throttle valve in the intake manifold, which supplementary air valve has a movable valve member which is actuatable against a return force by means of a member operating in accordance with temperature for the purpose of opening more or less widely the cross-sectional area of the lateral channel, whereby an electric heating device which is capable of being switched on when ignition impulses are present is attached to at least a portion of the temperature-dependent member, and the temperature-sensitive element is disposed within the supplementary air valve, in particular upon a bimetallic spring of the supplementary air valve which acts as the member which operates in dependence on temperature, for the purpose of influencing the fuel injection quantity. By means of this disposition of the temperature-sensitive element, a temperature-controlled and/or time-controlled enrichment of the fuel-air mixture takes place during the warm-up phase of the internal combustion engine.

    • A fuel injection installation for internal combustion engines having a plurality of injection valves for supplying fuel to the engine. Each injection valve is sealed to fuel distributing line and to either the intake manifold of the engine, or to the cylinder head of the engine, by at least one O-ring, each O-ring being braced only in the radial direction. Each injection valve is fixed in an axial direction on the fuel distributing line by means of a fastening plate yielding in the radial direction and embodied as bracket-like, which is insertable through appropriately shaped recesses in each insertion nipple on the fuel distributing line and can be snapped into an annular groove of each injection valve. As a result, there is assured not only a secure connection between the fuel distributing line and the injection valves which compensates for axial clearances required for manufacture, but also rapid mounting or dismounting of the fuel injection installation.

    • There is described a method and an apparatus for use with the fuel preparation system of an internal combustion engine, for example, a fuel injection system which operates injection valves with electrical control pulses. When the gas pedal of a vehicle is actuated abruptly, the air flow measuring device of such systems is subject to oscillations around its equilibrium point, and the initial one of these swings is used to cause enrichment of the fuel-air mixture. The return swing generates an undesired lean signal which is suppressed by a "damping circuit". In addition, there is provided mixture enriching during steady applications of the gas pedal by means of a time-decaying enrichment signal generated by a slow acting circuit which operates in superposition to the action of the damping circuit. Both circuits may be suppressed by a blocking circuit during certain engine conditions, for example, during engine starting and engine overrunning as well as on the basis of temperature.

    • The fuel-air mixture preparation system of an internal combustion engine is engaged by signals from a plurality of oxygen sensors located in the exhaust system of the engine. More than one sensor is provided to improve the quality of the output signals in unfavorable engine operation. The individual sensors are provided with comparators which make a comparison between the sensor output and a set-point signal. The output signals from the comparators are fed to a logically controlled coupling circuit which presents them in cyclic alternation to an integrating control circuit which provides a control signal to the final control element in the fuel mixture preparation system for changing the fuel-air ratio. The coupling circuit may also provide a signal based on the logical states of the individual sensor signals.
