    • A radiation image read-out and reproducing apparatus comprises a section for feeding a stimulable phosphor sheet carrying a radiation image stored thereon, a section for feeding a recording sheet, a section for photoelectrically reading ID information, and a light beam scanning section. The light beam scanning section comprises a read-out main scanning system for scanning a light beam in a main scanning direction on the stimulable phosphor sheet, a reproducing main scanning system for scanning a light beam in a main scanning direction on the recording sheet, and a sub-scanning system for moving the stimulable phosphor sheet and the recording sheet in a sub-scanning direction, thereby to read out a radiation image from a stimulable phosphor sheet and to reproduce a radiation image and ID information on a recording sheet by modulating the light beam in the reproducing main scanning system in accordance with a radiation image read out and information detected by the ID information reading section.

    • In an image read-out method, image signals are obtained by scanning a material-to-be-scanned, which carries an image recording thereon and which is conveyed in a sub-scanning direction, by a light beam deflected by a rotating polygon mirror in a main scanning direction approximately normal to the sub-scanning direction, and photoelectrically detecting light, which carries the image and which is obtained from a portion scanned by the light beam, by a photodetector. The image signals each obtained in each of main scanning steps in a number obtained by a single turn of the rotating polygon mirror or turns thereof in a number equal to integral multiples of one are addition-processed to obtain an image signal over a single main scanning line.

    • An image read-out and reproducing apparatus comprises an acousto-optic modulator, and a change-over device for guiding zero-order light and first-order light radiated by the acousto-optic modulator to a predetermined optical path. A deflector deflects a light beam to scan an image-recorded image information sheet or a recording sheet in a main scanning direction, and a sub-scanning device moves the image information sheet or the recording sheet normal to the main scanning direction. When the image information sheet is moved by the sub-scanning device, zero-order light is guided by the change-over device to the predetermined optical path and deflected to scan the image information sheet, thereby to carry out image read-out from the image information sheet. When the recording sheet is moved by the sub-scanning device, first-order light is guided by the change-over device to the predetermined optical path, modulated in accordance with image signals and deflected to scan the recording sheet, thereby to reproduce the image on the recording sheet.
