    • A radiographic image erasing device includes: a first light source that applies first erase light including a wavelength in the ultraviolet region to a storage phosphor sheet in which a radiographic image has been stored and recorded; a second light source that is placed at a height identical to that of the first light source and applies second erase light including a wavelength of a longer wavelength than that of the first erase light to the storage phosphor sheet to which the first erase light has been applied; drive mechanisms that switch the orientations or positions of the first light source and the second light source; and a controller that controls the drive mechanisms in accordance with a conveyance direction of the storage phosphor sheet such that the first erase light and the second erase light are applied in this order to the storage phosphor sheet.

    • A phototimer detects the dose of an X-ray radiation that has passed through a stimulable phosphor panel, and a stored quantity calculator calculates the quantity of radiation energy stored in the stimulable phosphor panel. An irradiation time ratio setting unit reads an irradiation time ratio from an irradiation time ratio storage unit according to the calculated quantity of radiation energy, and sets the read irradiation time ratio in an erasing unit. Based on the irradiation time ratio, the erasing unit applies erasing light including a radiation in a short wavelength range to the stimulable phosphor panel and thereafter applies erasing light comprising only a radiation in a long wavelength range to the stimulable phosphor panel, thereby erasing a residual radiation image from the stimulable phosphor panel.

    • Disclosed herein is a radiation image information reading apparatus for reading radiation image information recorded on a stimulable phosphor sheet and erasing the remaining radiation image information from the sheet. The apparatus generally includes a reading unit, an erasing unit, a light-intransmissive device, a first filter and a second filter. In the above apparatus, the sheet is first illuminated with stimulating rays to emit light therefrom, thereby photoelectrically reading the light to produce radiation image information. Erasing light is applied to the sheet from which the radiation image information has been read to erase remaining radiation image information as the sheet is read by the reading unit. The light-intransmissive device prevents the erasing light from entering into the reading unit.

    • A radiation image read-out apparatus is constituted for exposing a recording material provided with a stimulable phosphor and carrying a radiation image stored thereon to stimulating rays which cause the recording material to emit light in proportion to the stored radiation energy, and photoelectrically detecting the emitted light to read out the radiation image. The apparatus is provided with a multi-layer optical filter whose reflectivity with respect to stimulating rays increases as the angle of incidence of stimulating rays increases. The multi-layer optical filter is disposed in the optical path of stimulating rays in the vicinity of the recording material or formed on the surface of the recording material on the stimualting ray irradiation side, thereby increasing the efficiency of utilization of stimulating rays. In one embodiment, a second multi-layer optical filter is disposed in the vicinity of or formed on the surface of the recording material on the emitted light detection side. The second filter substantially reflects stimulating rays and substantially transmits the emitted light.
