摘要： A disposable plastic cartridge contains three fine lightweight wire mesh collectors, each of phosphor bronze. One collector has an oxidized surface for collecting drug particulates. The other two have surfaces electroplated with zinc to form a rough multi-fissured surface for trapping low volatility vapors. In use, a portion of a warm sample air stream is chilled and passed through the collectors in parallel for sample collection. Simultaneously part of the sample air stream by-passes the chiller and is fed directly into a mass analyzer for real time analysis. Next, both collection and real time analysis are terminated, and each collector is desorbed in sequence with a pulse of hot air which flows into the mass analyzer for sequential analysis.

摘要： A method and apparatus for welding tubes to a tube sheet uses a gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) torch assembly that is small enough to be inserted through small access holes in a box header. The welding torch is carried near the end of a rotating mandrel that is supported for rotation within a stationary tube. A centering mechanism is inserted into the tube to ensure proper radial alignment of the welding torch with respect to the tube. At the other end of the mandrel is a mechanism for rotating the mandrel and for supplying electrical power, shielding gas and cooling water to the torch and wire to the weld. Axial spacing of the welding torch is provided by a tube stop device that temporarily engages the end of the tube in combination with an axial adjustment device. Once the mandrel is inserted into the tube to be welded, the adjustment device is brought into engagement with the header box wall, a stop lock collar is locked in place, and an adjustment ring is turned a specified amount to move the torch and the stop device axially away from the end of the tube. The torch is then energized and rotated about the joint to weld the tube to the tube sheet.

摘要： A mass spectrometry quantitation technique enables high-throughput quantitation of small molecules using a laser-desorption (e.g., MALDI) ion source coupled to a triple-quadrupole mass analyzer. The ions generated from the ion source are collisionally damped/cooled, and then quantitatively analyzed using the triple-quadrupole analyzer operated in the multiple-reaction-monitoring (MRM) mode. Significantly improved measurement sensitivity is obtained by applying laser pulses to the ion source at a high pulse rate of about 500 Hz or higher. This allows the data acquisition to be performed rapidly, and the speed of about one second for each sample point on the ion source target has been achieved.

摘要： Apparatus usable with a tire changing machine includes a protective arm that may be pivoted about a shaft having an axis that is generally parallel to the radial axis of the wheel and tire assembly when positioned in the tire changing machine. A first section of the arm has one end mounted to the shaft so that the first section may be pivoted substantially in a plane perpendicular to the shaft. At the second end of the first section the arm extends in a section direction generally perpendicular to the first section. Pivoting of the arm permits the second section of the arm to be adjacent, and substantially parallel, to the circumferential surface of the tire and the first section to be adjacent, and substantially parallel, to the side wall surface of the tire. The arm thereby forms a safety barrier against the release of components of the wheel and tire assembly. The arm includes an additional portion that interacts with a safety latch that may be positioned on the tire changing apparatus to lock the arm in an engaged position and to activate pressurize air flow.
