    • It is one object of a grinding machine and a grinding fluid supply-nozzle therefor according to the present invention to supply grinding fluid to a moving grinding point reliably, even if the surfaces of a grinding wheel is abraded up. A wheel head 5 advances/retracts to a workpiece. A grinding wheel G is carried rotatably by the wheel head 5 and grinds an eccentric portion W of the workpiece. A grinding fluid supply-nozzle 50 supplies grinding fluid to a moving grinding point K where the grinding wheel G contacts the eccentric portion W of the workpiece. The grinding fluid supply-nozzle 50 is made from a curve portion 53, an opening 51 and a straight portion 52 between the curve portion 53 and the opening 51. The grinding fluid supply-nozzle 50 spouts the grinding fluid to a grinding fluid supply point Pc upstream the grinding points K and Ks, even in the case that the grinding wheel G has been abraded up. Besides, the angle between the tangent of the grinding fluid supply point Pc and the grinding fluid spouted from the grinding fluid supply-nozzle 50 is smaller than a right angle.

    • A control device is provided for electrically controlling a drive power transmission device arranged on a driving power transmission path of a front-and rear wheel drive vehicle thereby to switch the drive mode of the vehicle selectively to either of a two-wheel drive mode and a four-wheel drive mode. The control device inhibits the drive mode from being switched to that commanded to be switched to when the vehicle is traveling at a slower speed than a predetermined speed and when the rotational speed difference between front and rear wheels is larger than a predetermined value. Further, the control device gradually decreases a present torque which the driving power transmission device is transmitting before the switching of the drive mode, to a target torque which the drive power transmission device is to transmit after the switching of the drive mode, when the difference between the present and target torques is more than another predetermined valve at the time of the switching of the drive mode. Thus, the driving power transmission path can be prevented from generating the drive torque beyond a tolerable valve as well as making a noise due to the instantaneous switching of the drive mode during the traveling of the vehicle, and the vehicle can be prevented from abruptly changing its motion by the cause of the instantaneous drive mode switching.

    • A steer-by-wire steering apparatus for a vehicle has a first control system including a first ECU, and a second control system including a second ECU. Each ECU responds to manipulation of the steering wheel by a driver, and controls a steering motor. The first ECU determines whether the second control system is malfunctioning, and the second ECU determines whether the first system is malfunctioning. When any of the system is malfunctioning, the ECU of normally functioning system controls a counter force motor such that steering wheel receives a counter force that is different from that when both systems are functioning normally. Accordingly, the steering apparatus is capable of speedily and reliably causing a driver to realize a malfunction in the steering apparatus.

    • A drive power transmission device is disclosed having a drive mechanism for transmitting a drive power between first and second rotary members rotatable relatlve to each other, by the operation of an electromagnetic type dutch mechanism which brings a friction clutch into connection. A magnetic path generated around an electromagnet of the electromagnetic type clutch mechanism includes a clutch magnetic path in which a magnetic flux passes to reciprocate plural times across th friction clutch, and diamond-like carbon surface treatment is given on a part or all of the friction contact surfaces of the friction clutch to form a hard amorphous carbon film thereon. Thus, the transmission device can be constructed using a smaller number of the outer and inner plates for the electromagnetic type clutch mechanism, so that it can take a small construction with a longer durability life.
