    • An ionization current detector of improved efficiency includes facilities for directing heated nitrogen gas upward against a test sample, which is disposed on an aligned periphery of a rotary conveyor. The gaseous product resulting when the test sample is volatilized by the hot nitrogen is in turn sucked upward into a partial vacuum formed in an overlying, axially aligned nozzle having a venturi-like construction into which heated hydrogen gas is introduced. The hydrogen gas thereby admixed with the gaseous sample is ignited by the further application of forced air at the output of the nozzle, and the resulting hydrogen flame ionizes the sample. A pair of electrodes positioned above the air inlet measures the ionization current increase in the detector caused by the ionization of the sample.

    • The apparatus comprises a vertical vessel provided with a rotating gas-feed unit for maintaining powders in a fluidized state. The rotating gas-feed unit is provided above the bottom of the vessel with at least one tube extension terminating in a nozzle. The gas-feed unit may contain a plurality of tube extensions with nozzles, the tube extensions having different lengths and being bent in such a way, that the longitudinal axis of the nozzles forms an angle of 0* - 90* with respect to a radial direction passing through the nozzle opening in the direction of nozzle rotation and an angle of 0* - 45* in the same plane in the direction towards the bottom of the vessel. The vessel can be provided by several gas-feed units to which mixer blades may be attached.

    • A terrain probe for scanning time behavior of stress waves in a medium by means of a piezoelectric element mounted in a hollow tubular pointed body. More particularly a constructional arrangement to locate measuring elements for evaluating the stress waves propagating in a medium to be examined. The tubular body includes moreover an electric conductor attached to the piezoelectric element and adapted for transmitting pulses corresponding to the wave characteristics to a recording apparatus. The scanning sensitivity of the piezoelectric element is enhanced in that the frequency of the latter oscillating between the walls of the tubular body is more than two digits higher than the frequency of the waves to be examined.
