摘要： A process for translating objects a resonating chamber is described. The process includes: (i) obtaining a resonating chamber filled with a fluid medium and objects disposed therein; and (ii) generating one or more different standing waves to convey said objects from their disposed position to another location inside the resonating chamber. Using the above-described translating process, the objects may be positioned at a cavitation zone inside the resonating chamber. In one aspect of the present teachings, the objects are then subject to acoustic cavitation to convert at least some of the objects from one state to another state.

摘要： A method of producing decabromodiphenyl alkanes includes the steps of charging a reaction vessel with bromine and a bromination catalyst and introducing a diphenyl alkane into the vessel at a location above the level of the charge bromine and catalyst. A dip tube apparatus for introducing the diphenyl alkane includes an inner tube and an outer tube, each of which are disposed above the surface of the bromine reaction vessel. The inner tube is fitted with a plug having an opening. Diphenyl alkane flows through the inner tube, out the opening in the plug, and into the reactor. The outer tube is disposed around and along the inner tube. Reaction mass from the vessel is recirculated from the vessel, through the outer tube and back to the vessel so as to form a curtain of reaction mass around the stream of diphenyl alkane being simultaneously fed into the reaction vessel.

摘要： Particulate granules of a high water content food such as cheese are frozen in a freezing chamber having a perforated bottom plate. The bottom plate is vibrated to develop an oscillating movement while simultaneously introducing a chilled gas through the perforated plate to partially levitate the granules as they are moved through the freezing chamber by the combined action of the oscillating bottom plate and the chilled gas.

摘要： Processes and apparatus for treatment of flowing slurries of particulate material mixed in liquid employ a wide, elongated downwardly-slanted, metal tray with upturned edge flanges, cable-suspended for unrestrained vibratory flexing and undulation. The tray is provided with a plurality of ultrasonic transducers mounted on its underside, and the flowing slurry is delivered to the upper tray end, flowing lengthwise down the tray in a shallow flowing sheet. Ultrasonic vibratory energy coupled through the tray to the flowing slurry has a "microscopic scrubbing" action on all particles and agglomerates, breaking the surface tension on the particle, cleaning particle surfaces, and separating different constituent particles and coatings of gels, slimes, algae, clay or mud. Mixtures of fine particles of coal or other valuable minerals with ash, clay, rock or sand particles are separated with unexpected efficiency by these techniques.

摘要： A vessel is provided for holding and discharging loose bulk material, such as cellulosic chips. The vessel includes a cylinder main body with a conical discharge extending downwardly from the body. Chips are fed into the top and discharge from the bottom, with a vibrating discharge structure disposed interiorally of the bottom. In order to prevent hang-up of the chips which might block the outlet a number of prismatic elements are provided attached to the interior side walls of the vessel which terminate generally at the bottom of the main vessel body. The prismatic elements provide void volumes in the loose bulk material flowing downwardly from the inlet to the outlet, so that as the material is being funnelled down for discharge it can fill the void volumes and will not hang-up and block the bulk material outlet.
