The system provides for one or more injections to a predetermined needle insertion depth with a single core needle that can be advanced and retracted from the tip of the catheter. The catheter assembly includes a handle subassembly having a mechanism for setting and limiting the depth of insertion of the needle, a slide for moving the injection needle between retracted and extended positions, a return spring for biasing the needle to the retracted position, and a modified pulley mechanism for compensating for catheter shaft compression when the catheter is deflected.

摘要： An implantable prosthesis is provided for repairing or augmenting anatomical weaknesses or defects, and is particularly suitable for the repair of soft tissue and muscle wall openings. The prosthesis is configured to promote enhanced tissue ingrowth thereto, while limiting the incidence of post-operative adhesions between the fabric and tissue or organs. The prosthesis may include a layer of fabric that is constructed and arranged to allow tissue ingrowth and is susceptible to the formation of adhesions for tissue and organs. One or more barriers may be provided on selected portions of the fabric to inhibit the formation of adhesions with tissues and organs. The prosthesis may have an opening that is adapted to receive the esophagus or other tube-like structure, or other projection, that passes through an opening in or projects from a tissue, muscle or organ wall requiring repair and/or augmentation. The prosthesis may be configured for use in hiatal hernia repair and/or treatment of GERD. A method is also provided for the treatment of GERD.

摘要： The assay described herein is predicated on an observation that when acridinium ester labeled tracers are bound to their corresponding binding conjugate immobilized on a metal oxide solid phase, the measurable chemiluminescent light emission of the labeled tracer bound to the solid phase is quenched as compared to the free fraction tracer that is unattached to the solid phase. According to the invention, a non-separation specific binding assay to detect or quantify the presence of an analyte is provided where the entire reaction mixture is flashed (including unreacted tracer) and modulated signal (because of the quench effect) is associated with a reference, thus determining the amount or presence of said analyte in said sample. Disadvantages inherent in heterogeneous assays employing multiple separations may be avoided using this non-separation method.

The system further includes an overall master controller electrically connected to each of the power modulation circuits of each module to control the electrical power output from each of the modules.

摘要： Described are methods and apparatus for use in supporting tissue in a patient's body. In some embodiments, the patient's breast or another tissue is supported. One method involves introducing a superior soft tissue anchor into a patient, the anchor having an inferiorly facing total surface area; and introducing at least one inferior soft tissue anchor into the patient, such that the at least one inferior soft tissue anchor is suspended from the superior soft tissue anchor, the sum of all of the at least one inferior soft tissue anchors having a superiorly facing total surface area. The inferiorly facing total surface area of the superior anchor can be greater, such as at least two times greater than the superiorly facing total surface area of the at least one inferior anchor.
