摘要： A method and apparatus for removing cracks on a gas turbine engine component includes mounting a first pivotable tool to a base, mounting a second pivotable tool to the first pivotable tool, and mounting a fixture holding the gas turbine engine component to the second pivotable tool. The first pivotable tool and the second pivotable tool are adjusted to position the gas turbine engine component in a desired orientation. A linear tool is then moved along an axis to machine at least one crack from a surface of the gas turbine engine component.

At least one pin assembly, and optionally a pair of pin assemblies, is movable independently of each other along the slot. Each of the side edges of the segments associated with the slot defines a substantially vertical plane with a zone being defined between the substantially vertical planes of the side edges, and the movement apparatus is located substantially outside of the zone of the slot. The invention may optionally include a system for handling the obstruction of pin assembly movement, and a system for keeping track of the position of the pin assembly when the pin assembly has encountered an obstruction.

On the inclined surface of the truncated cone portion in the vicinity of the opening 22, as a thermal insulating layer, annular slits 23a to 23c are formed from an outer circumferential surface in the vicinity of the opening toward the hollow portion 21. The annular slit acts as a thermal insulating portion, and suppresses escape of the heat to heat the one end side of the core wire holder 20.

摘要： Method and apparatus for assembling, with fasteners, components of a structure having an outboard side, an inboard side, and a supporting frame. The components are placed together on the frame. An electromagnet having a core with multiple openings is positioned on the outboard side. A magnetically attractive member is placed against the inboard side opposite and aligned with the electromagnet. When activated, the electromagnet is attracted towards the magnetically attractive member and the two hold the components together. Multiple drill members pass through the openings in the core of the electromagnet and multiple openings are drilled simultaneously through the components. Subsequently, multiple rivets or huck bolts are simultaneously inserted into the drilled openings. Finally, fasteners are hammered through the drilled openings and rivets are secured by bucking bars provided on the magnetically attractive member. Alternatively, openings are provided in the magnetically attractive member for manually securing huck bolts to the components.
