    • A separator for flat-type polymer electrolyte fuel cells comprises a fuel-feed-side separator and an oxygen-feed-side separator, each comprising a collector portion in which n unit conductive substrates (n is an integer of 2 or more), each having a plurality of through-holes, are arrayed in flat configuration via gaps, and a pair of insulating frames which have n openings in alignment with an array position of the unit conductive substrates and are integrated in such a way as to hold the collector portion between them. The back-to-back (n−1) unit conductive substrates of the n unit conductive substrates in one of both separators, as counted from the end of its array direction, and the 2nd to nth unit conductive substrates of the n unit conductive substrates in another separator, as counted from the end of its array direction are successively joined together by means of (n−1) connecting hinges.

    • A hemostatic device includes a flexible band adapted to be wrapped around a patient's limb at a site on the limb where bleeding is to be stopped, a portion for securing the band in a wrapped state to the limb, a curved plate which is made of a material more rigid than the band and at least a portion of which is curved toward the inner peripheral side thereof, a main balloon which is provided on the inner peripheral side of the curved plate and which inflates when a fluid is introduced therein, and a pressing member which is provided between the curved plate and the main balloon so that at least a portion thereof overlaps with the balloon and which is adapted for pressing against the balloon. The device provides an excellent hemostatic effect and prevents numbness and poor circulation in areas peripheral to the site of attachment.

    • The object of the invention is to provide a separator of high strength plus high corrosion resistance which makes it possible to easily fabricate a polymer electrolyte type fuel cell having an extremely limited contact resistance with unit cells of an increased effective area, and a process for the fabrication of such separators. The invention provides a polymer electrolyte type fuel cell that comprises a metal substrate having a groove formed in at least one surface, an electrically conductive resin layer formed by electrodeposition in such a way as to cover the metal substrate, and a gas diffusion layer located on the surface of said metal substrate having a groove. Such a separator is fabricated by forming a groove in at least one surface of a metal sheet material to make a metal substrate; forming an electrically conductive coating film in such a way as to cover the metal substrate, using an electrically conductive electrodeposition solution; and engaging and placing a gas diffusion layer on the resin coating film except the groove in such a way as to veil the groove in the metal substrate, and thereafter curing the resin coating film to form a resin layer while joining the gas diffusion layer to the metal substrate to form a feed groove surrounded with the groove and the gas diffusion layer.
