    • PURPOSE: A power supply system for an electric rail car having function for stabilizing voltage of a wire is provided to save manufacturing costs by forming a system supplying AC current for driving the electric rail car by using a scott transformer and an auto-transformer. CONSTITUTION: A scott transformer(11) receives AC voltage of 154KV from a power system, change it into AC voltage of 55KV, and then supplies it to an M and T phase. An autotransformer(AT) is connected to the scott transformer to compensate voltage drop. The autotransformer changes the AC voltage of 55KV into 27.5KV and supplies it to the electric rail car. The scott transformer and autotransformer are installed within A transformer substation(12). The autotransformer is installed in a SSP(Sub-Sectioning Post) or an SP(Sectioning Post).

    • In a controller for an AC electric train which can perform powering and regenerating operations and can detect any power failure on AC overhead wires for supplying the AC power, detection of any power failure on AC overhead wires is carried out quickly without fail. A power failure detector (14) provided on an electric train controller (8) includes a specific frequency signal arithmetic operation section (16) which extracts a current component corresponding to a specific frequency setting value (26) from a main transformer output current detection signal (7) to output the extracted signal as a specific frequency current signal (18), a subtracter (19) which subtracts the main transformer output current detection signal (7) from the specific frequency current signal (18) to output the subtraction result as a current deviation (20), and a power failure detection section (23) which compares the current deviation (20) with a specified power failure detection setting value (22) and outputs a power failure detection signal (15) when the current deviation (20) is greater than the power failure detection setting value (22).
