    • An apparatus for controlling fault of automatic transmission is provided to determine what a friction element is undergoing fault-induced disengagement when occurrence of the fault-induced disengagement of the friction element to be engaged at a current gear stage is detected. A fault detecting unit detects occurrence of fault-induced engagement in any of friction elements to be engaged at a current gear stage. A determining unit determines the friction element occurring the fault-induced engagement. A command output unit outputs a command to establish another gear stage different from the gear stage at the time of occurrence of the fault-induced disengagement. The command output unit simultaneously outputs plural commands to establish plural gear stages corresponding to combination of engagement of the friction elements to be engaged at the gear stage at the time of occurrence of the fault-induced disengagement. At the time of occurrence of the fault-induced disengagement, the gear stage is established by combination of engagements of the friction elements which independently constitute an essential friction element to be engaged for establishing any of gear stages other than the predetermined gear stage.

    • PURPOSE: A six-speed shifting method for an automatic transmission of a vehicle is provided to operate an up/down shifting and a skip shifting by a two-axle concurrent control with one-way clutches of main and side shifting units and to operate six-speed drive with an existing five-speed power train without changing a structure. CONSTITUTION: A power train of an automatic transmission for a vehicle includes a main shifting unit and a side shifting unit. The main shifting unit hooks up with three clutches, two brakes, and a one-way clutch as two single pinion planetary gear sets. The side shifting unit hooks up with a clutch, a brake and a one-way clutch as the single pinion gear set. The main shifting unit outputs deceleration of a regular gear ratio in forward one-speed and two-speed, same speed in forward three-speed, acceleration in forward four-speed, same speed as three-speed in forward five-speed and same acceleration as four-speed in forward six-speed. The side shifting unit outputs deceleration in forward one, two, three and four-speeds and same speed in forward five and six-speeds. Therein, an up/down shifting and skip shifting are operated successively.
