    • The present invention relates to a propulsion device for a vessel which includes a propeller which is joined to the stern and which generates thrust; and a rudder which installed on the rear side of the propeller and which controls the direction of navigating the vessel. The propeller includes a boss unit joined to the stern to be rotated; blade units which are formed on the surface of the boss unit and which generate thrust by rotation; and a boss cap formed on one end of the boss unit. The rudder is characterized by including a recess unit wherein at least a part of the boss cap is inserted on the leading edge of the rudder. The propulsion device for a vessel according to the present invention includes the recess unit of the size in which at least a part of the boss cap of the propeller is inserted on the leading edge of the rudder, thereby maximizing the thrust by installing the propeller as close as possible to the rudder. Furthermore, the present invention can additionally improve the shape of the stern as much as the decreased distance between the propeller and the rudder, thereby securing the possibilities of additionally improving the thrust.
