    • A method for controlling a focus automatically of an image acquisition apparatus and an apparatus therefor are provided to control the focus automatically without conversion of a normal mode and a macro mode by using a blur level of an acquired image. An apparatus for controlling a focus automatically of an image acquisition apparatus comprises the followings: an image sensor unit(1100) acquiring an image by converting an optical signal into an electric signal; a blur level calculation unit(1200) calculating a blur level of the acquired image; an image sensor unit(1300) obtaining a first and a second image; and a focusing lens location calculation unit measuring a location of a focus lens by inputting the blur level of the first and the second image.

    • A method and an apparatus for controlling a focus in a photographing device are provided to effectively control the focus both in high and low brightness states by using different threshold values for the high and low brightness states. An apparatus for controlling a focus in a photographing device includes a brightness sensor(110), a filter(130), a threshold value calculator(120) and a controller(140). The brightness sensor detects brightness values in respective pixels in an image of an object. The filter outputs output values corresponding to the sensed brightness values. The threshold value calculator counts the number of pixels having brightness values greater than a predetermined value, and calculates a threshold value from a ratio of the counted pixels in an overall pixel number in the image. The controller controls a position of a focusing lens by using the output values greater than the calculated threshold value.
