    • PURPOSE: An image photographing device and a method thereof are provided to apply a filtering characteristic corresponding to the variations of a digital gain and an exposure time. CONSTITUTION: An image photographing device includes a light receiver(110) and an image processor(140). The light receiver receives an optical signal. The image processor controls ratios of an exposure time and a digital gain by referring to the amounts of light included in the optical signal. The image processor comprises at least one of a light quantity confirming unit, a characteristic confirming unit, a ratio extracting unit and a filtering unit. The characteristic confirming unit confirms the sharpness of an image made of optical signals.

    • An apparatus and a method for capturing images having optimized quality under night scene conditions are provided to enable proper exposure of a professional photographic expert level when photographing by a digital camera under night scene conditions or lower illuminance conditions, thereby making an image to be photographed to have the best quality. A first digital image is produced by capturing an image light of a photographing unit(165) from a subject. A night scene detecting unit detects whether the first digital image is a night scene image. When the input image is a night scene image, an exposure adjusting unit(135) adjusts an optimum exposure time by comparing an edge level of the night scene image with a reference image.
