摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a high-capacity, high-speed memory by enabling the writing and reading of magnetic records into and from a magnetic film for vertical magnetic recording through purely electrical random access. SOLUTION: A writing magnetic field generating means 62 and a writing word line 43 are arranged for a vertical magnetic recording film 50. On a corresponding probe substrate 10, a reading/writing bit line conductor 41, a magnetoresistance effect element 20, and a reading word line conductor 42 are laminated. On them, a magnetic probe 30 comprising magnetic material- containing carbon nano-tubes is erected and is electrically connected to a reading/writing bit line conductor 41. For writing, in the presence of a writing magnetic field, a fine discharge is generated by a writing current across a gap G between the magnetic probe tip and the magnetic recording film for applying heat to a fine region in the magnetic recording film for the magnetic recording film to pass the Curie point for magnetization in the direction of the writing magnetic field. 摘要： The device includes a micropoint (12) which is mounted at the end of an arm (10). The micropoint is a mechanical point of size less than a micrometre. The micropoint has an amagnetic pyramid part (42) which is covered by an insulating layer (44) and then magnetoresistive multilayers (46). The micropoint may be moved over a magnetic film (35). Recording takes place by passing a current through the magnetoresistive multilayer and a section of the magnetic film. The resulting heating to a temperature higher than the Curie temperature causes the section to be magnetised in the same sense as an applied magnetic field. Reading is achieved by measuring the resistance change in the magnetoresistive multilayer due to the leakage field of a magnetised film section (37).
