Each of the support members for the anvil 12 and the sonotrode 13 is attached to the rail in a slidable way and connected to each piston of the grippers, allowing various operations of the gripper through cycling of the piston. The sonotrode/anvil combination each includes a plurality of corresponding energy directors arranged in a three-dimensional lattice pattern and provides narrower welding areas, and the areas have high durability, allowing reduction of the amount of a packaging material used.
