    • PURPOSE:To effect automatic working of works by centering and holding the works from a stocker on a work table and feeding them sequentially to a rough grinding unit, polishing unit, reeling unit and cleaners between the respective working units. CONSTITUTION:Works 6 in a stock unit 5 are taken out one by one by a cylinder 20 and a vacuum pad of a supply unit 4 according to the command of a control unit 8. They are mounted on a work table 7 to be centered and held and then transferred on a rail 14 by a drive motor to be fed to a rough grinding unit 1. When this transfer is detected, the work 6 is pressed against rotating abraxives 12 and reciprocated by a motor 11 and a screw shaft 35 for rough grinding. It is then fed to a working unit 2 through a cleaner 17 and further to a reeling unit 3 through a cleaner 17 to be sent to the subsequent processes by a transferring unit 9 after the completion of a series of working. And the work table 7 returns to the transfer position. Thus, the polishing operation is automatically effected.

    • PURPOSE:To provide effective working of works by arranging on a transfer unit for transferring the works a rough grinding unit, polishing unit, reeling unit, judging unit and cleaners between the respective working units to control them with control units. CONSTITUTION:A work 8 is transferred to respective working units by a belt 1. In a rough grinding unit 1, the work is rough ground with a press force of a cylinder 16 set by a control unit 6, rotational frequency given by a motor 18, lateral motion speed and the number of strokes given by a motor 14, and then fed to a polishing unit 2 through a cleaner 5. The work 8 in said unit 2 is polished in the same manner as rough grinding and fed to a reeling unit 3 through the cleaner 5 and thereafter to a judging unit 7 where a camera 22 provided on a column 20 catches the image of a fluorescent lamp 21. When the width of the image is narrower than that of the fluorescent lamp 21 the work 8 is judged to be defective in the reeling to be reworked. Thus, high quality works can be automatically and efficiently worked.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To abrade a minute protrusion on a substrate up to a required height, even when an abrasive head can not be installed and adjusted accurately, and to prevent damage to an abrasive tape.
SOLUTION: The abrasive head 521b is oscillatably mounted in a lower part of a base member 521a by making a direction orthogonal to a width direction of the abrasive tape 510 as a shaft 521c. The abrasive tape 510 including smooth surfaces 510e, 510e functioning as stoppers in abrading operations at both ends of the width direction across an abrasive surface 510d is pressed against the minute protrusion α by the abrasive head 521b, and the minute protrusion α is abraded by transferring the abrasive tape 510. Here, abrasion progresses, and as the height of the minute protrusion α becomes lower, the inclination of the abrasive head 521 with respect to the substrate BS becomes is reduced, and eventually, both smooth surfaces 510e, 510e abut on the substrate BS, thereby enabling prevention of one-sided contact of the abrasive tape 510.
