    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for joining different kinds of metallic members, in which joining strength can be improved without giving consideration of the life of a tool, when sheet-like parts of a plurality of metallic members having a different material and different hardness are overlapped and the overlapped parts are subjected to spot welding. SOLUTION: When the first and second metallic members 14, 16 having a different material and hardness are overlapped and the overlapped parts are subjected to spot welding, the overlapped metallic members are arranged in such a manner that the first metallic member 14 of low hardness is on a projected tool 10 side and that the second metallic member is on a recessed tool 12 side. In the meantime, for the part to be spot-welded, the projecting part 22 of the projected tool 10 is inserted from the surface side of the first metallic member 14, so that the materials of the first and second metallic members are pushed into the thrusting recess of the recessed tool 12. Thereafter, by starting rotation of the projected tool 10, at least the material of the first metallic member 14 pushed into the thrusting recess is plastically fluidized, so that the first and second metallic members 14, 16 are spot-welded.
