An annular V-shaped brake member 7 is inserted into the V-groove 5 in close contact with it. The brake member 7 is fixed to an annular member 8 supported with a hub 12 via a torque support member 16 on the outer periphery side, the annular member 8 is slided by the action of an annular piston 9 assembled in the hub 12 so as to press the brake member 7 to the disk 2. Multiple elastic members 11 are provided at a uniform angle between the annular member 8 and the piston 9, and an elastic member 17 is inserted between the torque support member 16 and the hub 12.

When the pedal is released, the oil pressure applied to the wheel cylinder 15 disappears and consequently the piston 11, together with the ring, is returned by the drawing action of sealing member 13 and 14, so that the braking member 6 separates from the V-shaped groove 5, which is formed so that (the angle formed by the V of the V-shaped grove)/2>(the friction angle equivalent to the friction factor between the V-shaped groove and the braking member). Thereby, because as the pressure surface wears out the ring 7 moves rightward, it becomes unnecessary to regulate the gap between the brake drum and the braking member, and because the braking area is wide the wear rate is made smaller.
