    • PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for the gap regulation for a drum brake apparatus and reduce the friction load as well as to improve the cooling efficiency by making the end surface of a brake durm and an annular V-shaped braking member fit with each other through a V-shaped groove having a given angle forming the V thereof. CONSTITUTION:The end surface of a brake drum 2 and a braking member 6 are fitted with each other through a V-shaped groove 5. When a brake pedal (not shown) is stepped on and oil pressure is applied to a wheel cylider 15, a piston 11 is pressed causing, through a brake ring 7, the braking member 6 to be pressed against the V-shaped groove 5, so that a large brake power is produced. When the pedal is released, the oil pressure applied to the wheel cylinder 15 disappears and consequently the piston 11, together with the ring, is returned by the drawing action of sealing member 13 and 14, so that the braking member 6 separates from the V-shaped groove 5, which is formed so that (the angle formed by the V of the V-shaped grove)/2>(the friction angle equivalent to the friction factor between the V-shaped groove and the braking member). Thereby, because as the pressure surface wears out the ring 7 moves rightward, it becomes unnecessary to regulate the gap between the brake drum and the braking member, and because the braking area is wide the wear rate is made smaller.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of resonance by damping the vibration of a caliper by providing a damper having a damper weight of a different intrinsic oscillation from that of the caliper to a claw provided along the turning direction of the caliper. CONSTITUTION:Plural dampers 8a and 8b made of a rubber or synthetic resin having a different intrinsic oscillation from that of a caliper 1 are attached to the surfaces of claws 7a and 7b of the caliper 1. Also, damper weights 9a and 9b made of an iron plate having a different intrinsic oscillation from those of the caliper 1 and the dampers 8a and 8b are integrally combined with the dampers 8a and 8b. Vibration generated in brake pads 6a and 6b during the braking operation is transmitted to the caliper 1 but the intrinsic oscillation of the caliper 1 is varied by the dampers 8a and 8b and the damper weights 9a and 9b, so that vibration to be transmitted to the caliper 1 is damped.
