    • PURPOSE:To promote vaporization of fuel thus to stabilize the combusting condition by providing a fresh air lead-in path opening to an intake path while directing along the wall face of intake path and leading fresh air into the suction path. CONSTITUTION:In an engine 10, fresh air measured through measuring jet under the condition where the intake negative pressure produced in respective crank chamber 17A, 17B will function to the intake path 19 of intake tube 11 is sucked through fresh air lead-in paths 28A, 28B along the wall face of the intake path 19. Consequently, the wall face fuel film flow sucked from a carburetor 12 and flows along the wall face of the intake path 19 is dispersed by the fresh air flow through said paths 28A, 28B thus to promote vaporization. The intake negative pressure is high under low speed operation where vaporization of fuel must be further promoted, thereby the fresh air flow to be led through said paths 28A, 28B is stronger to promote vaporization of fuel reliably resulting in stabilization of combusting condition.

    • PURPOSE:To carry out the necessary cooling in simple ways by forming a water head increasing part by extending a part of a water passage communicating to a water jacket in the upper part and setting the water head exerted onto a water pump in a specific relation for the revolution speed of an engine and the discharge pressure of the water pump. CONSTITUTION:When an engine 13 installed in the upper part of a propulsion unit 12 in an outboard motor 10 is driven, a water pump 32 is driven through a driving shaft 14, and the outside water supplied from a water taking-in port 33 is supplied into the water jackets 30 and 31 on the body side and head side through a water supplying passage 34, and cooling is performed. With such constitution, a branched water supply passage 35 communicating to the body side water jacket 30 is extended in the upper part along the outside surface of a cylinder body 17, and the uppermost part is formed into a waterhead increasing part 41. The water head which the water head increasing part 41 exerts onto the water pump 32 is set larger than the discharge pressure of the water pump 32 during the low speed operation of the engine and smaller than the discharge pressure during the intermediate or high speed operation of the engine increased.

    • PURPOSE:To carry out the necessary cooling in simple ways by installing a water supply quantity control valve which is interlocked with the intake throttle valve of an engine and increases and decreases the water supply quantity for a water jacket according to the revolution speed of the engine, into a water passage communicating to the water jacket. CONSTITUTION:An outboard motor 10 is installed into a hull through a bracket 11, and an engine 13 is installed in the upper part of a propulsion unit 12. When the engine 13 is driven, a water pump 32 is driven through a driving shaft 14, and the outside water supplied from a water taking-in port 33 is supplied into the water jackets 30 and 31 on the body side and head side through a water supplying passage 34, and cooling is performed. With such constitution, a water supply quantity control valve 37 is installed into the part for the communication of the water supply passage 34 to a body side water jacket 30, and the water supply quantity control valve 37 is interlocking-connected with an intake throttle valve 25 through link mechanisms 45-47. When the engine 13 is in the low speed operation, the water supply quantity is suppressed, and when the engine is in the intermediate or high speed operation, control is executed so that the water supply quantity is increased.
