    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a screening method of stress-inhibiting substance or stress-enhancing substance, a stress determination method, or a stress diagnostic kit that utilizes a novel stress biomarker. SOLUTION: The serum of a rat loaded with stress by 10-hour submersion constraint is tested by two-dimensional electrophoresis. Electrophoretic images of two-dimensional electrophoresis before and after stress loading are compared, and protein, such as creatine kinase isozyme (CK-MM) detected as four kinds of spots which appear at pH 6.0-7.0 and molecular weight 40-55 kD after stress loading, is used as a marker. The stomach is immediately extracted after blood collection, the area of ulcerated part is measured, and the ratio of the area of the ulcerated part to that of the stomach as a whole is taken as the ulcer index (%).     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antifatigue agent effective for preventing fatigue and recovering from the fatigue and safe, and to provide a functional food. SOLUTION: This antifatigue agent contains a peptide-containing fraction which is given by treating a suspension of actomyosin existing in muscle (skeletal muscle) of an animal in a large amount with a protease, such as papain, and then removing insoluble matter therefrom, wherein the peptide-containing fraction is found to have high antifatigue activity and Asp-Leu-Tyr-Ala, Ser-Leu-Tyr-Ala, and Val-Trp of which the each is a peptide having the antifatigue activity are purified/identified from the peptide-containing fraction having the high antifatigue activity. Further, the peptides having an antifatigue effect are obtained by being purified from a decomposition product of the actomyosin or chemically synthesized based on information about sequences thereof.
