    • PURPOSE:To perform a width rolling reduction with the optimum rolling reduction force, to increase the plate width accuracy and to improve the edge drop by fitting a small diameter cylinder into the large diameter cylinder movable in the width direction of a rolling stock and by selecting the cylinder according to the plate thickness. CONSTITUTION:A vertical roll 4 is moved in the direction apart from the large diameter cylinder chamber 11 which is supported with the stroke adjustably, when a pressure liquid is fed to the anti-vertical roll side inside the large diameter cylinder chamber 11. Now the vertical roll 4 fitted to the supporting part at the tip is advanced at high speed. In case of the rolling stock being a thick one, the rolling reduction is started with its contact with the width end of the rolling stock by advancing as it is. In case of a thin one on the other hand, a large diameter piston 13 is stopped prior to the vertical roll 4 coming into contact with the rolling stock and the rolling reduction with small rolling reduction force and the contact with the rolling stock thereafter is performed by advancing the small diameter piston 13. In this case the vertical roll 4 is inclined by turning the worm wheel 9 which is linked by a key 15 to the outer periphery of the small diameter cylinder chamber 11 by driving a worm 12 by driving the motor in an inclining mechanism 6, in case of the rolling stock having a certain angle for the level.

CONSTITUTION:The sheet thicknesses on the outlet sides of respective stands are determined from the size and steel kind of the rolled stock and the load distribution of the respective stands. The rolling loads of the respective stands are determined from the temps. on the inlet sides of the respective stands, the predicted values of deformation resistance and the sheet thicknesses on the outlet sides of the respective stands, then the face pressures of the respective stands are determined. The amts. A of the edge drops on the outlet sides of the respective stands are determined from the face pressures and the shapes of the single-taper work rolls built into the mill. The amt. A of the edge drop on the outlet side of the final stand is determined in accordance therewith. The corrected amt. C of the edge drop is determined from the resultant amt. A of the edge drop and the target amt. B of the edge drop. The width reduction force of the vertical rolling mill to erase the corrected amt. C of the edge drop from the preliminarily determined cross reduction force and the improved amt. of the edge drop and the cross reduction is executed under the cross reduction force obtd. in the above-mentioned manner.

    • PURPOSE:To enable a stabilized width rolling reduction without causing a defective shape by individually controlling the rolling reduction cylinder with at least one information among the rolling reduction pressure of the rolling reduction cylinder, the rolling reduction position of an edger roll and the width end shape of the strip after the width rolling reduction. CONSTITUTION:The magnet scales 13, 14 of the piston cylinders 11, 12 of each rolling reduction cylinder 4, 5 are detected and the roll position detectors 15, 16 detecting the position of edger rolls 2, 3 by the stroke of the cylinders 4, 5 are provided. The pressure gages 19, 20 detecting the rolling reduction pressure are provided respectively on the cylinders 4, 5. The shape detecting gages 23, 24 of non-contact type detecting the shape of the width end part of a strip 1 are provided at the downstream side of the edger rolls 2, 3. By the detection signal transmitted from at least one of each detecting gage the right and left cylinders 4, 5 are individually worked, the roll gap of the right and left rolls 2, 3 is separately adjusted and the right and left rolling reduction force is controlled so as to balance at all times.
