CONSTITUTION:At the time of executing the rolling reduction of the cast slab 3, cylinder 32 in the outer bar 12 or further the inner bar 13 positioning to the whole width part of solidified layers 6 at both sides is worked in accordance with the width size of the cast slab 3. In this result, the rolling reduction liner 29 connecting with the cylinder 32 is shifted to the outer bar 12 and the inner bar 13 along dovetail grooves 30. In this case, as the reverse tapered face having inclination in the groove 30 is formed, the contacting face of the liner 29 with the cast slab is made to non-contacting state to the surface of the cast slab 3. Under this condition, at the time of executing the rolling reduction of the cast slab 3, as the rolling reduction is executed to the non-solidified layer 2 at the center of the cast slab 3 contacting with the liner 29 and is not executed to the non-contacting solidified layer 6 at both sides of the cast slab 3, the rolling reduction is executed only to the layer 2, and as the rolling reduction force needed at this time is very little, load to the equipment can be drastically reduced.

    • PURPOSE:To perform a width rolling reduction with the optimum rolling reduction force, to increase the plate width accuracy and to improve the edge drop by fitting a small diameter cylinder into the large diameter cylinder movable in the width direction of a rolling stock and by selecting the cylinder according to the plate thickness. CONSTITUTION:A vertical roll 4 is moved in the direction apart from the large diameter cylinder chamber 11 which is supported with the stroke adjustably, when a pressure liquid is fed to the anti-vertical roll side inside the large diameter cylinder chamber 11. Now the vertical roll 4 fitted to the supporting part at the tip is advanced at high speed. In case of the rolling stock being a thick one, the rolling reduction is started with its contact with the width end of the rolling stock by advancing as it is. In case of a thin one on the other hand, a large diameter piston 13 is stopped prior to the vertical roll 4 coming into contact with the rolling stock and the rolling reduction with small rolling reduction force and the contact with the rolling stock thereafter is performed by advancing the small diameter piston 13. In this case the vertical roll 4 is inclined by turning the worm wheel 9 which is linked by a key 15 to the outer periphery of the small diameter cylinder chamber 11 by driving a worm 12 by driving the motor in an inclining mechanism 6, in case of the rolling stock having a certain angle for the level.

    • PURPOSE:To permit stable cross rolling of a strip by making the angle of inclination of a strip in contact with the vertical rolls of an edger with respect to the horizontal line larger than the angle of inclination of the vertical rolls with respect to the perpendicular. CONSTITUTION:The strip S is lifted and supported by the rolls of a looper S. A fluid pressure cylinder 5b is actuated to lower the roll 5a of an upper press roll device 5 to press the strip S downward by the roll 5a. The vertical roll 4a is inclined with perpendicular and the strip S is cross rolled by the vertical roll 4a under the condition theta1>=thetae. The above-mentioned theta1, thetae are respectively the angle of inclination of the strip S in the part in contact with the roll 4a with respect to the horizontal line and the angle of inclination of the vertical roll 4a with respect to the perpendicular. If the cross rolling is executed under the condition theta1=thetae, the stable rolling is executed as the ascending and descending of the roll are obviated. If the cross rolling is executed under the condition theta1>thetae, the strip S receives the upward force in the contact part with the vertical roll 4a but is pressed down by the roll 5a and therefore, the strip is kept in the state of receiving the 7 upward force without ascending and the stable rolling is executed.
