    • PURPOSE:To cast stably and continuously an ingot having a uniform surface by forming a vertical groove of a narrow width between both side walls in the corner part on the surface of a gate faced to the inside of a casting mold toward the height direction thereof. CONSTITUTION:A casting mold 8 which is open in the upper part is formed of a U-shaped channel formed of the bottom wall 1 consisting of the endless belt and both side walls 3, 4 consisting of the endless belts and a gate 10 provided at one end of the U-shaped channel. The wall 1 and the walls 3, 4 are moved at the same speed in the same direction by which the ingot is continuously cast in the mold 8. The vertical groove 11 of the narrow width is formed between the walls 3 and 4 in the corner part of the surface 10a of the gate 10 faced to the mold 8 toward the height direction thereof.

    • PURPOSE:To suppress the waving of a pouring basin and to produce a steel plate having good quality by applying horizontally a magnetic field to the surface of the surface of the pouring basin in a continuous casting machine and conducting electricity thereto in the horizontal direction and the direction intersecting orthogonally with the magnetic field. CONSTITUTION:This continuous casting machine produces the steel plate 5 by storing the molten steel 3 supplied from a nozzle 6 to form the pouring basin 8 above a pair of cooling rolls 1, 2 disposed to face each other apart at a prescribed spacing, rotating the rolls 1, 2 to move the solidified layer of the molten steel 3 formed atop the same and casting the steel plate. The magnetic field is formed forward and backward in the horizontal direction to the surface part of the above-mentioned pouring basin 8 by coils 7 provided before and behind the same and the electricity is conducted between a pair of electrodes 9 and 10 provided on the right and left in the direction intersecting orthogonally therewith to generate the electromagnetic force in the pouring basin 8 from above to below. The waving of the surface of the basin 8 is thus dissipated and the generation of defects such as double skins and cracks of the steel plate 5 is prevented.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of a solidified shell in a gate for the molten metal on twin-rolls in the stage of casting continuously a steel plate, etc. with a twin-roll type continuous casting machine by passing electric current to the molten steel flowing down from a tundish and applying a magnetic field to the molten metal flow. CONSTITUTION:The molten steel 5 is supplied from the tundish 3 through nozzle, 4, 4' into the molten steel pouring basin constituted of side gates 2, 2' provided on the both sides of the twin rolls 1 and the rolls 1 are rotated, by which a steel ingot 8 is produced. Magnetic field generators 7, 7' such as coils are installed alongside the gates 2, 2' to form the magnetic field.     • PURPOSE:To produce a continuous casting ingot having a uniform surface and inside compsn. in a continuous casting mold constituted of a bottom wall, both side walls and gate formed of metallic blocks into an endless state by providing a heating mechanism near the surface of the gate facing the mold.
