CONSTITUTION:A setting display means M3 displays an automatic or manual setting content in response to setting of a plurality of automatic or manual operating conditions of an air conditioner M1 set by a setting means M2 and a manual setting mode and at the same time a mode displaying means M4 may display the present mode of the air conditioner M1 under both automatic and manual conditions. Each of the indicator lamps is lit in response to an operation of each of the switches, a display lamp is lit in response to a condition of automatic air conditioning condition when an automatic control under an operation of an automatic switch and in turn, when the manual operation is performed, the display lamp corresponding to the state of the operated switch is lit.

CONSTITUTION:A normal control of air conditioning, in which an air conditioning condition from a setter M1 and an air conditioning condition from a sensor M2 of each kind are respectively input to an air conditioning control means M4 through an input means M3, is performed so as to obtain a desired air conditioning condition. Here the means M4, whose detecting means M41 discriminates an abnormal condition of abnormality when it is generated in the sensor M2 of each kind, stores the detected abnormal condition in a memory means M42. And the air conditioning control means M4, when it is switched to a sensor diagnostic mode by a switching means M5, performs a control so that the abnormal condition, stored in the memory means M42 in the past, and the abnormal condition, being continuously generated at present in the sensor M2, are divided respectively and informed by a informing control means M43.

CONSTITUTION:Sensors 20, 50 through 52 and drive devices 7, 19, 30 through 33 for air-conditioning actuators and an operating device 40 are connected to a third connector 51, and are connected to a control device 70 through first and second cables 60a, 60b, and first and second connectors 62, 63. The control device 70 controls the opening degree of an air mixing damper 17 and the rotational speed of a blower motor 7 in accordance with signals from the sensors 20, 50 through 52 and a temperature setting unit 41. Meanwhile, when a failure is diagnosed, the second connector 62 is disengaged to expose a failure diagnosing terminal DGX. Thereby the connection between the control device 70 and the operating device through the second cable 60b is isolated so that the control device is alone diagnosed.

Further, there is provided an alarm unit 40 arranged outside of the passenger's compartment, for issuing several kinds of alarms in accordance with the alarm signal from the control device 30. With this arrangement, even after alighting from the automobile, it is possible to issue alarms indicating whether the several actuators fall in the parking condition of the automobile or not.

As a result, when cooling load is low or when allowances occur in cooling capacity, power can effectively be saved by closing a valve 7 and increasing the pressure loss.
