SOLUTION: When failures are detected in multiple layers, each layer's failure detecting/recovering methods 101 and 102 are activated simultaneously and operations are performed until just one phase before a main signal is switched. When any layer the operation of which leads on the phase, through communication end/processing methods 103 and 104 of failure recovery information between layers, informs the other layers accordingly, it stops the other layers' failure recovery operations. The other layers, through the communication end/processing methods 103 and 104 of failure recovery information between layers, respond to the information, and the leading layer on the phase actually switches the main signal based on the result of the other layers' responses.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light wavelength multiplexing device wherein IP router being a client and a light wavelength multiplexing device are subjected to a high-accuracy synchronizing source by wavelengths through a function for making them subordinate to a timing source for from outside. SOLUTION: An optoelectric converter 21-1 of each of transmitters 2-1 to 2-3 terminates from a light input signal from an IP router, etc., and a timing extractor 22-1 extracts a timing signal from a receive signal. A selector 23-1 selects and outputs one of the extracted timing signal and a timing signal from an external timing input terminal 5. A timing synchronizer 24-1 synchronizes the terminated transmit signal with the timing of the selector 23-1 and an electrooptic converter 24-1 converts the transmit signal to a light wavelength signal which is different by transmitters. A light wavelength multiplexer 3 multiples and transmits the light signals from the transmitters 2-1 to 2-3 to an optical transmission line 100.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a signal management system, whose fault can be recovered at high-speed at a lower cost by eliminating the need for a complicated logic circuit to locate fault locations in a wavelength multiplex network. SOLUTION: An optical signal form provided with an area to manage quality of optical transmission therein, that is, provided with an optical transmission managing byte is adopted for a form of an optical signal to be transmitted. A parity of a transmission signal is stored into the optical transmission managing byte. A photoelectric conversion section 101 receives the transmitted optical signal, a 3R processing section 102 applies 3R processing to the optical signal, and an optical transmission managing byte termination section 103 receives the result. The parity stored in the transmitted optical transmission managing byte is compared with the parity of the received signal, and number of bit errors and a bit error rate are calculated. An optical transmission managing byte generating section calculates the parity of the signal before the signal is transmitted optically to other node, so that the bit error rate is calculated at a succeeding node and the result is stored in the optical transmission managing byte.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To monitor an optical transmission signal in the unit of one bit in spite of transmission signal rate. SOLUTION: An electric signal, for which the desired optical signal is converted into electric one by an optical receiver 202, is inputted to an optical signal quality monitoring device 203. The optical signal quality monitoring circuit 203 is provided with bit discriminating circuits 204 and 205 for discriminating whether the input electric signal bit is high level or low level by setting a voltage amplitude threshold value and a phase threshold value. The outputs of these bit discriminating circuits 204 and 205 are exclusively ORed by an exclusive output OR circuit 206 and the number of errors within the predetermined time is integrated by an error number integrating circuit 207. When the number of errors exceeds a predetermined threshold value, the error number integrating circuit 207 can report quality degradation fault information to the outside.

SOLUTION: A device 207 for monitoring the signal is connected to a part of the output terminal of an optical switch circuit network 201. Only when an instruction to monitor the light signal is received, the transmitted light signal is connected to the monitor device 207 and signal quality is monitored. A device for terminating the overhead of the light signal can be used as the monitor device 207, and a bit error rate can be checked and an identifier mentioned in the overhead can be recognized. Thus, all the light signals can be monitored only by preparing few monitor devices for the multiple light signals. Thus, a main signal can inexpensively be monitored. Since the signal is not always monitored but it is monitored only when a monitoring request is given, management information quantity of the device controlling a node is reduced and an inexpensive system can be constructed.

If the node 107 confirms separation of the ET path, it requests sending of a main signal light to the node 106 via the stand-by ring 104. The node 106 changes over an optical switch to send the light also to the stand-by ring 104 in accordance with the request. In this method, stand-by resources which are used in trouble or maintenance time, can be used effectively used, and a system in which the delay difference of active path and the stand-by path during maintenance time can be composed.
