    • PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of the strength of a roll supporting shaft for a rolling mill by a method wherein lubricating oil is supplied from one end of a double hollow part provided at the central part of the roll supporting shaft and is circulated in a bearing while it is discharged from the other end of the hollow part. CONSTITUTION:A lubricating oil outflow preventing cover 8 is attached to both ends of an outer shaft 7 and the central part of a fixed shaft 4 is made hollow. Other hollow tube 10 is inserted into the hollow part 9 and is fixed thereto so as to form the double hollow configuration having a uniform section with respect to the axial center thereof. The hollow part 9 of the fixed shaft side is utilized for an oil path as an outer hole while the same of the hollow tube 10 is utilized for the oil path as an inner hole respectively, therefore, the section of the roll supporting shaft becomes uniform and the deterioration of the strength thereof may be prevented.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent generation of roll marks with a rolling mill having plural divided backup rolls by making the diameter at both ends of the divided rolls smaller than the diameter in the central part. CONSTITUTION:Backup rolls 10 which contact with a pair of intermediate rolls 3a, 3b of a rolling mill are constituted of plural divided rolls 10 and other backup rolls 11 are constituted of plural divided rolls 11a or 11b. The rolls 10a, 10b, 11b have the drum shape in which the diameter (d) at both ends is smaller than the diameter D at the center and the outside circumferential surface is gently formed. If a material 1 to be rolled is rolled with such rolling mill, the rolls 10a, 11a, 11b that contact with the rolls 3a, 3b have the drum shape and therefore the exertion of a large face pressure only on the outside circumferential surface of the rolls 3 in contact with the ends of the divided rolls as in the prior part is obviated. The generation of stripe-shaped roll marks on the outside circumferential surface of the rolls 3 is thus obviated and no roll marks are formed on the rolled material 1.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the biting of a rolling mill and to prevent work rolls from producing flaws by providing rolls for processing the tip of strip into a taper shape and a device for traversing the rolls in the width direction of the strip. CONSTITUTION:A strip 1 is fed in the arrow direction by upper and lower pinch rolls 2a, 2b while being guided by a side guide 3a, and is fixedly held by a clamp 3b after being bitten by rolls 8a, 8b of a rolling mill. Thereafter the tip of strip 1 is roll-formed into a taper shape by traversing a mill housing 7 in the lateral direction of the strip 1 while rotating the rolls 8a, 8b.

    • PURPOSE:To control a component force of rolling load and to prevent an intermediate roll from falling off by making a central back-up roll movable in the vertical direction with respect to its back-up roll frame. CONSTITUTION:When a worm 15b is rotated by a driving source in the normal or the reverse direction, a wheel 15a is also rotated in the normal or the reverse direction to slide a wedge-shaped rod member 12. Then a bearing 10 is moved in the vertical direction relatively to a back up roll frame 11, and a central back up roll 7 is also moved vertically. The moving quantity is detected by a position detector 16 used for detecting the sliding quantity of the rod member 12. In this way, the fall-off of an intermediate roll and the action of an excessive component on the roll 7 are eliminated by controlling the position of the roll 7 through the vertical direction.
