    • PURPOSE:To enable the easy change in the crown shape of work rolls and change in the sheet shape during rolling by providing freely rotatably an eccentric sleeve between plural divided backup rolls and a supporting shaft, and turning the eccentric sleeve thereby changing the position of the backup rolls. CONSTITUTION:A backup roll which acts rolling down force on a work roll 2 with intermediate rolls 3, 3 is divided axially. An eccentric sleeve 9 is freely rotatably provided between the divided backup rolls 4b and a supporting shaft 7 thereof. A lever 11 provided with a sector gear 10 at the end is coupled to the sleeve 9 to permit the chagne in the central position of the rolls 4b by rotating the sleeve 9. A needle bearing is further provided between the sleeve 9 and the shaft 7 so that the sleeve can be turned with small force. The crown shape of the work roll 2 is thus changeable during rolling.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the slip between intermediate rolls and work rolls and to decrease the frequency of changing the rolls by disposing the shafts of the two intermediate rolls in a multistage cluster rolling mill in series, and mounting bevel gears respectively to the opposed end parts of the shafts. CONSTITUTION:Gears 15, 17 are mounted respectively to the revolving shafts 18, 19 of the two intermediate rolls 2a, 2a for work rolls in a multistage cluster rolling mill. Revolving shafts 20, 21 are provided on the outside of the driving shaft 10 of a motor 23 and gears 14, 16 are mounted thereto. The revolving shafts 18, 19 of the roll 2a are meshed with the gears 14, 16. Gears 13a, 13a are mounted to the opposed end faces of the shafts 20, 21 respectively so as to oppose thereto and four stationary shafts 11 are radially disposed between the same at a right angle to the shaft 10. A gear 12 intermeshing with both of the gears 13a, 13b is provided to constitute a differential gear mechanism. The generation of a slip in either of the intermediate rolls with respect to the work rolls is prevented by such mechanism, whereby the failure and consequent exchange of the rolls are decreased.

    • PURPOSE:To execute rolling which scarcely has a deviation of plate thickness, by executing the rolling of a warp part of the tip of a rolling material by a different diameter roll, by a different peripheral speed and a rolling reducation for inhibiting the generation of warp, and setting them to the same peripheral speed and the regular rolling reduction after the tip is bitten by the following stand. CONSTITUTION:In a different diameter roll rolling mill having an upper work roll 2 of a small diameter and a lower work roll 3 of a large diameter, a wide gap is made to such an extent as a roll gap does not contact until immediately after the tip of a rolling material 1 is bitten and also the reduction is added when the rolling material 1 is bitten, and a difference is provided on the peripheral speed of the work rolls 2, 3, so that warp is scarcely generated in accordance with the rolling reduction in that case. Subsequently, the roll peripheral speed is set to the same speed, the rolling reduction is made higher than the regular rolling reduction, the gap is reduced, and a deviation of plate thickness in a non-tension state is decreased. After the tip of the rolling material 1 is bitten in the following rolling mill, the roll gap is returned to its regular state, and the regular rolling is executed.
