    • PURPOSE:To detect accurately a tension of strip at the wrapping part of roll and to prevent various kinds of troubles due to abnormal tensions, by detecting a horizontal force acting on a strip-wrapped work roll and subtracting a horizontal force produced by rolling from said horizontal force. CONSTITUTION:A strip (s) is rolled, by passing it through the 1st-3rd gaps 21-23 in sequence, and rotating respective rolls 1-4 at their prescribed speeds in a state of wrapping the strip (s) around the 2nd and 3rd work rolls 2, 3 as well as rolling it by adding the prescribed rolling down forces respectively. Horizontal forces F, F' acting on roll chocks 2, 3 in the inlet and outlet sides directions respectively, are detected by load cells 10, 15 because the forces F, F' are produced by the inlet and outlet tensions acting on the strip (s). On the other hand, a rolling force P is detected by a load cell 16, and a horizontal force Fp is obtained by using a prescribed equation based on the previously inputted values with the aid of a computing unit 17. A computing unit 18 subtracts Fp from F to obtain the inlet tension T1b of sheet (s) during rolling. In the same manner, an outlet tension T3f is obtained, to control each of roll- driving system and rolling down force, etc. based on these tensions.

The inlet-side tension target-value correcting quantity calculated and outputted by the unit 24, is added to an inlet-side tension set value to obtain an inlet-side-tension control unit 20. Then, it is converted into a current target value by the unit 20, to change the inlet tension by controlling the rotating torque of an unwinding-reel driving motor 14 through a current control unit 16. In the same manner, the outlet-tension target-value correcting quantity is added to an outlet-tension set value, and the result is sent to an outlet-tension control unit 21 to change the outlet tension by controlling the rotating torque of a winding-reel driving motor 15.
