    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resistance welding method capable of promoting growth of a nugget by suppressing generation of spatters.
      SOLUTION: The resistance welding method, which resistance-welds a pair of workpieces by gripping the workpieces with a pair of electrode tips under a prescribed welding pressure, and supplying the welding current through the electrode tips to the workpieces, includes: a change detecting step of detecting a change in an amount of expansion of a nugget in the gripping direction of the workpieces by the electrode tips; a determination step of determining whether or not the detected change is smaller than the threshold value; and a welding current control step of gradually increasing the welding current flowing through the workpieces after the detected change is determined as being smaller than the threshold value. Thus, generation of spatters can be suppressed, growth of the nugget can be promoted, and an energization time can be shortened.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the sticking, biting or the like, e.g., of foreign matters such as spatters, water droplets and dust in a motor-driven spot welding gun, and to miniaturize and lighten the same gun.
      SOLUTION: A cylindrical rotation preventive part 30 is fixed to the edge part of a rod 24. The upper end part of a ball spline shaft 32 provided with spline grooves 32a extending in the shaft direction is fixed to a housing 28. The ball spline shaft 32 is inserted into the rotation preventive part 30. A rotor 36 is rotatable by receiving electromagnetic force from a stator 34 provided on the housing 28. The rotor 36 is hollow, and ball screw grooves 36a are formed on the inner wall. Rolling balls 58 are projected out from the outer wall of the rotation preventive part 30, and a part thereof is inserted into the ball screw groove 36a. Balls 56 transfer the rotational force of the rotor 36 and move the rotation preventive part 30 and the rod 24. Further, the rolling balls 58 are projected out from the inner wall of the rotation preventive part 30, and are inserted into the spline grooves 32a.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically and precisely correct a command value to a servo motor in holding a workpiece by accurately determining a holding/pressurizing force of an electrode tip that opens/closes by the servo motor.
      SOLUTION: A welding gun 14 is moved to the position of a pressure detector 24 using an articulated robot 16. A prescribed pressurizing command value C is given to the electrode tip of the welding gun 14, with the pressure detector 24 clamped to detect a holding/pressurizing force F. In this case, an electric current value I fed to the servo motor 40 for driving the electrode tip is detected by a current detector 72. A correlation function between the holding/pressurizing force signal A2 and the current value I is determined by a correlation function forming circuit 58. The welding gun 14 is moved to the position of a workpiece by means of the articulated robot 16. A command current value Q1 which is set based on the determined correlation function is applied to the electrode tip, so that the workpiece is clamped for spot welding to be performed.
