    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rolling mill capable of stably giving sheet tension to an extremely thin metal sheet to be rolled by properly considering the relation with a rolling load, using especially a four-stage rolling mill of a simple structure, so that an extremely thin sheet, which is conventionally hard to manufacture, is manufactured. SOLUTION: Both work rolls are driven at different circumferential speeds by a different circumferential speed driving device. Before passing through (A) between work rolls, a rolling material is set so as to pass through (B 1 ) between a lower speed side work roll and one back-up roll. After passing through (A) between the work rolls, the rolling material is set so as to pass through (B 2 ) between a higher speed side work roll and the other back-up roll. Rolling loads are applied to points A, B 1 , B 2 by a rolling reduction device. The rolling material speed in the inlet side is synchronized with the circumferential speed of the lower side work roll, and the rolling material speed in the outlet side is synchronized with the circumferential speed of the higher side work roll due to different speed rolling at A point and frictional forces at B 1 , B 2 points, and further the rolling material speed and the circumferential speeds of the work rolls are set to such a speed as to eliminate the presence of the neutral point at A point, so that the influence of friction to rolling is vanished.     • PURPOSE:To shorten the length of hot rolling equipment and to make the equipment compact by coiling a rolled stock on and after a 2nd pass in a rough rolling stage and transporting the stock on the inlet side of a finishing mill which is arranged in parallel to the advancing direction. CONSTITUTION:A cast slab 24 which is continuously casted is cut into the slab 24 of an optional length with a cutting machine 2 and, after passing the slab through a soaking pit 3, width mill 4 and rough descaling device 5, rough rolling is executed with a roughing mill 6. The strip on and after the 2nd pass is coiled with a coil box 8 and the coiled coil is transferred on the inlet side of a finishing mill group which is arranged in parallel to the advancing direction of the coil with a coil transporting machine 40. The front and rear end parts of the strip 26 which is delivered from a coil delivering device 9 is cut off with a cutting machine 7 and the strip is passed through a finish descaling device 12. Successively, after reducing the thickness of the tip of the strip 26 with thickness reducing device 11, finish rolling is executed in the finishing stands 13-15.
