    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling device for an engine for an outboard motor capable of cooling a part around an opening in an exhaust passage substantially uniformly. SOLUTION: This water-cooled engine is composed of a head side exhaust passage formed in a cylinder head for guiding exhaust gas from a combustion chamber, a block side exhaust passage 74 formed in a cylinder block 33 to communicate with the head side exhaust passage, and a head side cooling water jacket and a block side cooling water jacket 51 formed around the combustion chamber. A cooling water path is constituted and includes the head side cooling water jacket and the block side cooling water jacket. A matching surface 33a of the cylinder block and a matching surface of the cylinder head are mutually connected by a plurality of bolts. The block side exhaust passage is opened along a plurality of cylinders on the matching surface of the cylinder block, and a part around the opening 74a is surrounded by a plurality of bolts.
