    • PURPOSE:To separate and concentrate effectively an alcohol from an aqueous solution of the alcohol to the permeated water side at a relatively low energy cost, by feeding the aqueous solution of the alcohol containing a soluble organic substance other than the alcohol to a reverse osmosis membrane of relatively low desalination ratio under pressure. CONSTITUTION:An alcohol is separated and concentrated from an aqueous solution thereof 2. In the process, a soluble organic substance 3, e.g. raffinose or lactose, other than the alcohol is present in the above-mentioned aqueous solution 2, which is fed to a reverse osmosis membrane 5 of pressure to separate and concentrate the alcohol 6 on the permeated water side. The alcohol can be concentrated under a lower pressure by this method than by the well-known method, and this method is advantageous to energy cost. The unpermeated water side 7 is circulated, and a concentrated solution of the alcohol 6 is obtained on the permeated water side. Thus, the recovery ratio of the alcohol is high, and an aqueous solution of a lower alcohol in a low concentration at which the distillation method cannot be applied can be concentrated to a concentration at which the distillation method is applicable at a low cost.

    • PURPOSE:To concentration a dilute aqueous solution of especially a lower alcohol to the permeated water, using lower pressure than the conventional process, by dissolving a soluble organic compound other than alcohol in an aqueous solution of alcohol, and supplying the solution to a permeable memberane under pressure. CONSTITUTION:A soluble organic compound other than alcohol (e.g. raffinose, lactose, glucose, fructose, various amino acids, EDTA-4Na, etc.) is dissolved in an aqueous solution of a lower alcohol such as methanol, ethanol, etc. having relatively low concentration, and the solution is supplied to a permeable membrane under pressure to concentrate the lower alcohol to the permeated water. The permeation pressure is usually , and the permeability of alcohol increases by decreasing the permeation pressure. EFFECT: Since the concentration is carried out under low pressure, the energy cost can be saved, and since the non-permeated water is circulated, the recovery of the alcohol is high.

    • PURPOSE:To enable permeation treatment under low pressure, in separating a high-molecular org. substance from a low-molecular org. substance and inorg. salts, by using a reverse osmosis membrane while diluting the solution in a recirculation side by adding water from the outside of the system to perform permeation treatment. CONSTITUTION:A solution mixture is one containing a high-molecular org. substance with an M.W. of 1,000-5,000, a low-molecular org. substance with an M.W. of 200 or less and inorg. salts. This solution mixture is supplied to a permeation apparatus, provided with a reverse osmosis membrane having such a characteristic that the exhaustive ratio of NaCl in a solution containing 1,000- 1,500ppm of NaCl is 50% or less, under pressure through a recirculation tank. Permated water containing inorg. salts and the low-molecular org. substance is discharged out of the system while the non-permeated water containing the high- molecular org. substace is recirculated to the recirculation tank. Herein, operation for adding water to the recirculation system from the outside of the system is interposed to continue permeation and the high-molecular org. substance is separated from the low-molecular org. substance and inorg. salts.

    • PURPOSE:To perform the effective regeneration treatment of a reverse osmosis membrane even when a precipitate caused by polysilicate is precipitated, in preforming desalting treatment after the treatment of soft water, by washing the reverse osmosis membrane with washing water having pH higher than that at the time of desalting before the ratio of a transmitted water amount reaches a specific value or less. CONSTITUTION:Raw water A containing silicate and hardness components is passed through a hard water softening apparatus 1 to remove hardness components. Subsequently, an NaOH solution is added to soft water from an NaH tank 3 to adjust the pH thereof to 8 or more and pH controlled water is introduced into a reverse osmosis membrane apparatus 8 under pressure by a high pressure pump 7 while desalted transmitted water B and untransmitted water C enhanced in the concn. of salts are collected. After desalting treatment is continued until the ratio of a transmitted water amount reaches 0.8 or less, said treatment is interrupted to perform regeneration treatment. A pump 10 is driven to supply transmitted water in a transmitted water tank 9 to the reverse osmosis membrane apparatus 8 as washing water while an NaOH solution is added thereto and the pH of washing water is made higher than that at the time of desalting. Waste washing water is discharged through an untransmitted water line. The polysilicate adhered to the surface of the membrane is dissolved and the ratio of a transmitted water amount is restored to the original state.
