    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a body structure for a railroad head car capable of reducing impulsive noise caused by a micro-pressure wave further than a conventional head car regardless of whether a tunnel is just a regular one without buffer work or the tunnel is a buffered one.
      SOLUTION: The cross sectional area of the car body is changed along the longitudinal direction so that the pressure gradient of a compression wave generated when the car enters in a tunnel without buffer work reaches the maximum value at the head part, and gradually decreases toward a general part through an intermediate part. The cross sectional area increasing rate of the head part Z1 decreases gradually in a front side sectional area increasing region Z11 in a range approximately from 5.0 m
