    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric element capable of increasing a deflection displacement of a diaphragm by effectively using a piezoelectric constant d 15 and to provide a liquid ejection head with the use of the piezoelectric element. SOLUTION: The piezoelectric element includes a first electrode, a second electrode, a diaphragm and a piezoelectric material film and is so constituted that the piezoelectric material film is arranged between the first electrode and the second electrode and the diaphragm is disposed outside of the first electrode. In the piezoelectric element, one or more recessed portions are provided on the piezoelectric material film at a second electrode side, a third electrode is formed on an inner sidewall of the recessed portion, and the third electrode is connected to the second electrode. This liquid ejection head includes an individual liquid chamber communicating with an ejection nozzle for ejecting liquid and the piezoelectric element provided corresponding to the individual liquid chamber.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibration generating device capable of further improving drive efficiency compared with a conventional one.SOLUTION: A vibration generating device includes: a piezoelectric element constituted by sandwiching a piezoelectric substance formed of a piezoelectric material by electrodes; a vibrating body to which the piezoelectric element is connected; and a power supply applying an alternating voltage to the piezoelectric element. The vibration generating device can generate vibration to the vibrating body by applying the alternating voltage to the piezoelectric element by the power supply. The piezoelectric element is constituted by a piezoelectric substance of which resonance frequency is changed to a high frequency side in accordance with application of the alternating voltage. The vibration generating device further includes a control unit that controls frequency of the alternating voltage applied from the power supply, and the control unit controls the frequency of the alternating voltage applied to the piezoelectric element and thereby sequentially changes the resonance frequency of the piezoelectric element from a low frequency side to a high frequency side in a frequency range including a variation range of resonance frequency of the piezoelectric element.
