SOLUTION: First, second and fourth brakes B1, B2, B4 are arranged on the outer diameter sides of first, second and third planetary gears 3, 4, 5, and a third one-way clutch F3 is arranged between the planetary gears 4, 5 out of the three planetary gears 3, 4, 5. An outer race 100 of the third one-way clutch F3 is locked to a transmission case 9. The outer race 100 has a recessed portion 100a recessed in the axial direction. A hydraulic actuator 90 for the second brake B2 is arranged so that at least part thereof is put into the recessed portion 100a of the third one-way clutch F3 and at least a part of the hydraulic actuator 90 and the third one-way clutch F3 is overlapped with each other in the axial direction. Consequently, it is configured so as to proximately dispose the planetary gear PR and the planetary gear unit PU, and to shorten transmission member 40 transmitting deceleration rotation output from the planetary gear PR and a sleeve member 41.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicular automatic transmission having improved efficiency and controllability by minimizing sliding resistance due to a seal ring. SOLUTION: The automatic transmission 1 1 comprises a planetary gear unit PU 1 for reducing the input rotation of an input shaft 12 to be output, a third brake B-3 and a fourth brake B-4 for locking sun gears S2, S1 of the gear unit PU 1 , a first clutch C-1 and a third clutch C-3 for freely transmitting the reduced rotation through the gear unit PU 1 , and a planetary gear unit PU 2 having sun gears S3, S4 to which the reduced rotation is transmitted via the clutches C-1, C-3. In the automatic transmission 1 1 , the sun gears S2, S1 are connected to hub members 72, 89, respectively, which are laid on a boss portion 3b in sequence in a relatively rotatable manner and fitted to each other, both brakes B-3, B-4 and hydraulic servos 60b, 60a are arranged on the axial front side of the planetary gear unit PU 1 and hydraulic servos 20, 40 of both clutches C-1, C3 are arranged on the axial rear side thereof.
