    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a powder for thermal spraying, which is suitable for forming a thermal-spray film excellent in hardness and wear resistance.SOLUTION: The powder for thermal spraying comprises cermet particles obtained through granulation and sintering. The cermet particles obtained through granulation and sintering have an average particle diameter of 5-25 μm and a compression strength of 50 MPa or higher. The cermet particles have a straight running ratio of 0.25 or higher, the straight running ratio being defined as the value obtained by dividing the maximum thickness of a thermal-spray film obtained when 150 g of the powder for thermal spraying is subjected to thermal spot spraying by the length of the longest of the line segments which each has both ends thereof on the contour of the spray film. The cermet particles obtained through granulation and sintering have an average aspect ratio of preferably 1.25 or lower. The powder for thermal spraying is preferably used in applications where a thermal-spray film is formed by high-speed flame spraying or cold spraying.
