    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide powder for thermal spraying with which a chromium nitride-containing film of high quality can be inexpensively formed at a low cost in a short time. SOLUTION: The powder for thermal spraying comprises Cr 2 N as the main component. The average particle diameter of the powder for thermal spraying is preferably 3 to 8 μm. The powder for thermal spraying preferably comprises, by weight, 80 to 90% Cr, 10 to 15% N and 0 to 10% O. The total content of Cr, N and O is preferably ≥98%. The powder for thermal spraying is preferably used for application wherein a sprayed coating is formed by a high speed flame spraying method. The sprayed coating is formed through a stage wherein combustion flame is generated in a combustion chamber 11; a stage wherein auxiliary fuel is fed to the combustion flame discharged from the combustion chamber 11; and a stage wherein powder for thermal spraying is thermally sprayed by the combustion flame.
