    • PURPOSE:To achieve the lightweight, high strength, and low air resistance of th rim for the wheel in a car for a road race by comprising the rim with hybrid materials consisting of fiber reinforced plastic material and light alloy metal material. CONSTITUTION:A nearly heart-shaped rim 1 is formed by being integrated with a hollow light alloy material 4 such as an aluminum alloy and FRP material 5 consisting of high strength and elasticity fiber such as carbon fiber, thermosetting resin such as epoxy resin, and thermoplasic resin such as nylon resin. In this case, the fiber is arranged in the two directions for the longer direction of the rim 1, that is, at 0-20 deg. to reduce the deformation of the rim 1 in the perpendicular direction to the utmost and at 20-70 deg. to reduce the twisting deformation. Moreover, the thickness of the light alloy material 4 is set to approximately 0.2-2 of the thickness of the FRP material 5. As a result of this structure, lightweight, high strength, and low air resistance can be attained.

    • PURPOSE:To secure such a wheel as being excellent in rigidity inexpensively, by forming a hub and a wheel main body into each separate body, and clamping these parts tight with a clamping device, while devising a means of structure in a boss part of the wheel main body, in case of a built-up wheel suitable for a two-wheeled vehicle. CONSTITUTION:This built-up wheel consists of a metallic hub H and a wheel main body W detachably set up in the hub H where a tire T is attached, and both H and W are coupled together by means of clamping devices C. The hub H consists of a hollow cylindrical bearing cylinder part 1 and a wheel support part 2 solidly extended in a radial direction from the axial one side. On the other hand, the wheel main body W is made of hard synthetic resin and consists of a boss 15, a spider 16 and a rim 17. And, the boss 15 consists of a clamped part 15b tightly attached to the wheel support part 2 with the clamping device C, a cylindrical part 15a and a flange part 15c extendedly installed in both inner and outer circumferences of the former in an axial direction, and plural reinforcing ribs 15d connecting and reinforcing an interval between both these parts 15a and and 15c.
