    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformly and sufficiently humidify entire faces of printing papers, by providing a printing paper-humidifying apparatus set in a cooling apparatus of a rotary printing machine with a porous hollow roller which can be close to and away from a printing paper-cooling cylinder and, a water feed system supplying water to a hollow part of the hollow roller. SOLUTION: A printing paper (web) is sent and supplied to a cooling apparatus 1 through a drying apparatus and transferred to a folding machine of a next process at a predetermined speed with keeping touch with cooling cylinders 2 and guide rollers 3 in the cooling apparatus 1. Each cooling cylinder 2 is provided with a humidifying apparatus which has a hollow humidifying roller 5 and a water feed system 6 supplying water to a hollow part 5a of the humidifying roller 5. When the humidifying roller 5 is rotated in pressed touch with the cooling cylinder 2, the water is fed to the cooling cylinder 2, thereby humidifying the printing paper. The humidifying roller 5 preferably uses a porous material of physical properties values of a pore diameter of 70-140 μm, a porosity of 60-96%, a thickness of 12.5-50 mm and a 25% compression stress of 100 g/cm or larger.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent hot air from remaining in a pocket area by providing on a pocket box a central discharge opening arranged in parallel with slits on both sides and opens ranging to upper and lower surfaces of the box, and a loophole which opens at the upper surface of the box. CONSTITUTION:A hot air to be discharged from slits 3 flows to the center of a nozzle by the Coanda effect due to a curved face 5 at a slit outlet. At the same time, a hot air to be discharged from a central discharge opening 17 is discharged vertically due to a preliminary running interval between upper and lower faces of a box 4. Among the discharged hot airs, the hot air which flows toward a pocket area 11 enters boxes 14a and 14b through a loophole 18. The hot air which flows toward both sides of a one-way nozzle to be discharged into a dryer from opened both ends flows along a web 6, thereafter, discharged in the dryer through a hot air loophole 10. Thus, retention of the hot air in the pocket area 11 is prevented so that a distribution of the local heat transfer rate to be obtained from the nozzle will be improved. As a result, the length of the dryer can be shortened.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coal modification device which dries and carbonizes coals via circular-grating method. SOLUTION: The coal modification device 1 has a coal drying means and a coal carbonizing means on substantially the same surface of revolution. Here, the above-mentioned surface of revolution is a circular moving surface and is divided into a drying zone A, a carbonization zone B and an exhaust zone C by a dividing plate 22. A coal-supplying aperture 24 is established at the upper part of the drying zone A, a coal-exhaust aperture 34 is established at the lower part of the exhaust zone, a drying gas-supplying aperture 35 and a drying gas-exhaust aperture 25 are established within the drying zone, and a carbonization gas-supplying aperture 36 and a carbonization gas-exhaust aperture 26 are established within the carbonization zone. The coals successively pass through the drying zone A, the carbonization zone B and the exhaust zone C while revolving. A grate tray 2 which tilts at an angle allowing the coals to drop at the exhaust zone, is installed.
